Archos 5 Internet Tablet

The Archos 5 gets a refresh with Google's Android OS, but with mixed results.

Sleek design. Huge, beautiful, high-res screen. Built-in Wi-Fi, browser. On-screen home button for one-click Main Menu access. No need for stylus. Available in large capacities.

Expensive. Touch-screen interface is not as sophisticated as those of competitors. Apps aren't well-executed. UI could stand to be streamlined—requires too many clicks at times.

Archos Home Connect 35 Review

The low resolution screen and antique Android 2.2 OS may turn some people off, but for highly functional and clock this is a great device.

Supports hundreds of alarms, Supports apps and video, Internal battery

Archos 5 60GB Internet Media Tablet

The Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet (PMP, MID, etc., etc.) is getting a lot of attention lately, and rightly so. It combines the performance, function, and content most of us are looking for in a portable media device: full Web connectivity, PC...

The cons are moderately annoying at worst. A stylus would have been a practical accessory; some Web pages are difficult to navigate on the touchscreen. (Still, you can zoom in and out by double-tapping.) The glossy metal finish is in no way a...

Is Google's Android OS enough to keep Archos top of the PMP tree and fight off Apple's advances?

The Archos 5 is pretty as a picture but doesn't quite have the Android dazzle we expected

Archos 5 Internet tablet with Android review: Archos 5 Internet tablet with Android

Archos 5 Internet tablet with Android

The Archos 5 Internet tablet/portable media player offers a large, high-resolution touch-screen display, Wi-Fi, music playback, photos, Flash video and game compatibility, Bluetooth, e-mail, a Web browser, a built-in speaker, an integrated kickstand,...

GPS signal reception is poor enough to make the feature useless; many popular Android apps are unsupported; Flash video support is hit or miss; no multitouch support for keyboard or gestures; text copy and paste is a chore; and the glossy design shows...

The Archos 5 is a great video player, but it disappoints as a premium Android Internet tablet and GPS unit.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet Android-based PMP

The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is everything the Archos 5 was, but with better performance, enhanced hardware and all the advantages Google Android brings to the party.

We were very impressed with the Archos 5 first time round and the addition of Android combined with the hardware tweaks only improves things. While it is lacking some aspects of the full Android experience, the 5 still has far more potential than most...

"Has a lot of potential."

It has so much potential and its so beautiful to hold and look at but can't do much with it. The only apps I can get and some at that are from Amazon app store. Beautiful display and can't get Netflix. Only if they would update this to Android...

beautiful display and audio quality and fun to browse on.

Not a google certified tablet. Seems Archos abandoned this tablet. No update in years. Resitive touch screen.
