Archos GamePad

Archos GamePad is a gaming centric tablet with 7-inch screen, physical control buttons and two analog sticks. In addition, it also sports a 1.5GHz dual-core processor coupled with a Mali-400 GPU. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show.

Verizon 4G LTE network is incredibly fast, 32GB microSD card included, Integrated kickstand works in portrait and landscape

Battery life is among the worst weve ever seen, No 4G LTE power toggle option, Kickstand in landscape orientation blocks microUSB port

Archos GamePad

The ARCHOS GamePad is a tablet specifically designed for playing games complete with two shoulder buttons, four directional pads and dual joysticks. At first glance, the size of the screen, 7”, might seem too unwieldy for comfortable gaming, however it...

Archos GamePad

Hands-on: Archos shoots for Android tablet gaming nirvana, misses.

If you want something to game on, a bonafide gaming handheld like the simlarly priced Nintendo 3DS or PS Vita is a far better bet. And as the Archos GamePad's buttons aren't all that good, they're not the upgrade over virtual controls we had hoped for.

Archos GamePad 2 review

The GamePad 2 has had a significant makeover, but doesn't justify the price tag

Stylish, comfortable design ; HD IPS screen ; Plenty of games to choose from Impressive battery

Priced too high ; Tinny speakers ; Can't cope with more demanding games ; Button mapping is poor

The GamePad 2 is a vast improvement on the first, but it still doesn't have the blockbusters or price tag to compete with the dedicated handhelds.

Archos GamePad review

An Android tablet with buttons

Physical inputs to match Xbox/PS3 controllers ; Intuitive and flexible button-mapping function

Outdated and low-quality analog control nubs ; Lack of standardization across games ; Not very pretty

Aesthetically, the GamePad more closely resembles some outdated piece of retro computer hardware than a sleek, modern Android tablet, and the headphone jack sits awkwardly on the top of the device (though it is pleasantly light and thin). These flaws...

Archos GamePad 2

In coming to the conclusion of this review a few bumps in the GamePad 2 road were uncovered and not all of them are Archos’ own doing. It seems, like the Xenon before it, the Game Pad 2 is aimed at a market that doesn’t exist in any great capacity and...

Archos Gamepad – Initial Impressions

The Archos Gamepad was mentioned earlier on in the year and to tell you the truth I never thought it would ever appear. Archos were true to their word and actually got the product to market, without their trademark delays. So mine arrived a few days...

Archos need to get some updates out for the Gamepad and sharpish, overall it felt like I was using a prototype product, not a publicly available product. It is like they rushed to get it out for Christmas.
