ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 review: a budget tablet that punches above its weight

To some extent, ASUS is a victim of its own success: it gave the budget tablet category a boost with the original Nexus 7, and it now faces a legion of

Colorful display ; Long battery life ; Inexpensive

Lackluster performance, especially in gaming ; Mediocre cameras

ASUS' MeMo Pad HD 7 isn't the fastest tablet, but its quality display, battery and software raise it above other budget tablets.

Don’t Judge a Tablet by Its Cover

Don't let its cheap plastic build fool you: While the $150 MeMo Pad HD 7 may look chintzy and toyish, this tablet offers big performance and a great feature set at an extremely attractive price point. For anyone interested in casual web browsing, movie...

A lot of tablet for very little money. Battery lasts up to 10 hours. 16GB of internal storage expandable to 32GB via micro SD card. Comes with Android customizations that are actually useful

Dull, uninspired design. Wi-Fi only. Plastic back feels cheap and attracts fingerprints. Disappointing camera, particularly in low-lighting

Asus Memo Pad HD 7 review

With high-end specs to challenge the best tablets around, but a price that seriously undercut them, the original Nexus 7 was a superb gadget, well deserving of its praise and popularity -- and a major feather in the cap of its maker, Asus. With the...

Very cheap; Decent screen; Enough power for most tasks; Rear camera; Expandable storage; Colourful design.

Rear plastic might be a little brittle; No 3G or 4G model;.

With its rear camera, expandable storage and cheaper price, the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 makes a few key improvements on the already excellent Nexus 7 tablet. If you're looking for a cheap tablet that will tackle most tasks well, this is the one to go for.

Asus MeMO Pad HD 7

The Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 is one of the most affordable tablets available, and offers solid features and performance for the price.

Affordable. Sharp display. Good performance for price. MicroSD expandable. Useful Android customizations.

Cheap, glossy plastic build. LCD blooming around edges.

Multimedia and Conclusions Asus's tablets aren't quite as multimedia focused as Samsung's Galaxy Tabs, both on the software and hardware side. For video, the HD 7 supports MPEG4, H.264, and DivX files, but not AVI or Xvid. Audio support includes MP3,...

ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 ME173X ( Jelly Bean)

Its performance is meekly mediocre, and consistent lagging combined with a sometimes unresponsive touch screen make the tablet best suited for simple tasks like browsing and reading.

The Asus Memo Pad HD 7 rocks an impressively colorful screen, features a bevy of useful customization options, and comes in at a budget price.

Its performance is mediocre and the touch screen is sometimes unresponsive. The plastic build gives it a toy-like feel and it isn't very comfortable to hold. The dull design lacks panache.

For those looking to save a buck, for its low price, the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 has a bevy of useful features, though there are better performing options out there.

Asus Memo Pad HD 7 tablet gets much-needed upgrades over predecessor

Asus' Memo Pad HD 7 is already better than the tablet it's following up. Well, on paper at least.

ASUS MeMO Pad HD7 Review: $149 Nexus 7.1 Successor & Our First Look at MediaTek's MT8125

The tablet market is presently caught in a race to the bottom, at least in terms of pricing. The shift from the initial crop of 10-inch tablets to 7/8-inch models is well under way, and with that shift comes downward pricing pressure.

Ultimately that's what ASUS has done with the HD7. It has given us a 1st gen Nexus 7 in almost every sense, with a $50 lower price tag. A pretty impressive accomplishment when you think about how big of a deal the Nexus 7 was when it arrived just over...

Review Asus Memo Pad HD 7 Tablet

The better Nexus. For a year it was very hard to get a high-quali

Inexpensive; Good display; Convincing performance; Light and handy; Good battery runtimes

Limited amount of RAM; No HDMI; UST-OTG not (yet) implemented

The direct rival is obviously the Nexus 7 - which is also manufactured by Asus. It has a similar performance but no camera at the back and no micro SD slot either. Other inexpensive tablets like the Archos Gamepad or the TrekStor SurfTab Ventos 7 are...

Asus MeMo Pad HD 7 Review

Already notable for its high-end models, like its Padfone and Transformer lines, Asus knows what it takes to become a formidable figure. At the same time, though, they've made great strides in the entry-level market too, which is evident by its...

Extremely affordable pricing ; Packs both front & rear cameras ; Variety in its color scheme

Cheap construction

There’s no arguing about the notoriety and prestige surrounding the newest version of the Google Nexus 7, as it reigns supreme in the 7-inch category, but the Asus MeMo Pad HD 7 is an equally impressive offering on its own. For beginners, it has the...

ASUS MeMO Pad 7 – Finally, a budget tablet with no Compromises! [Review]

It's hard to believe that a sub $150 tablet can be this good – but it's true. This is a budget tablet that doesn't feel like it's cheap. Sure, it doesn't feel quite like a premium tablet – it can't compete with the likes of an iPad Mini, but it knocks...

No real compromises yet priced for a budget, top notch performance, Competitively priced, great build quality, fun color choices, packs in both a front facing and rear facing cameras which are pretty good, nice selection of accessories are available...

Wish the display was a bit brighter – but hard to complain at this price point
