ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 Z580C 32GB

The iPad (and for the sake of comparison to the ZenPad, the smaller iPad Mini) is like the Adele of tablets. Its excellent track record feeds the fervor around its name brand appeal, and that popularity makes it easy for its universal acclaim to go...

The Asus ZenPad S 8.0 is affordable, lightweight and thin, with a sleek design. Its brilliant screen is razor sharp and can be color-corrected with preloaded Asus software. Adjusting the screen's color balance, saturation and sharpness is a breeze...

The front-facing speakers are weak, and the cameras takes underwhelming photos.

The Asus ZenPad S 8.0 is one of the best Android tablets around, with a price that belies its impressive quality.

Quality, Unique, Value

EDIT: My initial review has changed completely over time. Running this thing day to day as a casting tablet/email and video chatting is a nightmare. The exclusion of WiFi 5Ghz is a shame as it steps this tablet down from a dream to a reality nightmare....

Build quality is out of this world for the price. At $200 dollars currently, if feels like it blows away the Samsung and Apple tablets that run double the price. And what do you get for double the price? This thing is far more beautiful than any galaxy...

Bloatware is pre installed and quite a bit of it. I'd expect an android tablet to come with chrome as it's go to browser. Why Asus feels the need to make their own? I don't know. I switched it and it's fine, I'm griping....but still. Intel Atom that's...

NOT RECOMMENDED.

Worst Asus product I ever bought.

Screen resolution.

Don't waist your time buying this product. You will be disappointed.

Would be excellent if updated

Would I recommend this to other people: NO (lack of support/upgrades). Better off getting a refurb 2013 Nexus 7.

Handy form factor, excellent screen resolution, decent speed. Performance comparable to 2013 Nexus 7.

Most of these are minor: - screen could be brighter - battery life is mediocre - headset jack doesn't support microphone (headphones only) This one is MAJOR: I got this shortly after in came out (July 2015). It was on Android 5.01. Since then, there...

Buyer Beware

Buying this tablet to replace an aging Nexus 7 (2012) is one of my biggest regrets. If I was still in the return period I'd send it back in an heartbeat. The hardware should sail, but all the system level bloatware makes this nearly as slow as the old...

Decent but quirky

Out of the box, the tablet was in some kind of testing mode. Touching a button on the screen resulted in a green dashed line around the button area and an announcement of the button name/type ("Forward!"; "Button 42"; "Previous!"). Buttons would only...

▪ Pretty screen ▪ Nice feel ▪ Loud (and decent sound)

▪ Incompatible with at least two key Google Play Apps ▪ WiFi seems limited to lower speeds ▪ Upgrade to Android v5.1 seems unlikely

Poor Quality and horirble warranty service

I would not recommend this device to anyone based on my experience with customer service

Excellent screen Excellent resolution Feels good in my hand Good Battery life Okay Speakers

Horrible service from Asus on warranty A little slow but livable The device performed perfectly for the first 2 months then the home button started "ghosting." I got a rma and shipped it back to be repaired under warranty. Asus shipped the device back...

Hugely Disappointing

Do not buy this this tablet. This was to be my primary e-book and document reader. It fails as the Asus "system apps" keep popping up. Why do you need a 'system cleaner"? or a "start up" manager? Big mistake to give away my Nexus 7, now that is my...

Nice resolution bright and clear. Browsing the web okay. Multimedia functions okay.

Asus pre -installed apps are redundant and interfering. I've done all the updates, tried disabling adware and even a system restore and it is slower than my old Nexus 7.

The Dish Anywhere App doesn't work with this device - Buyer Beware

The tablet is great. The primary reason I bought the Z580C was to stream movies /TV and play occasional low end games like Star Wars Commander. Previously, I bought the Fire HD 10 and it was horrible because of the wifi network card cutting in and out...

The only con for me is that the Dish Anywhere App isn't compatible with this Tablet as of the time of writing this review. You can't even download the stand alone apk file to get it to work. Although Dish clearly states "1 Requires Android OS 4.0 or...
