Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 review: how important is audio quality in a budget tablet?

With the IdeaTab A1000, Lenovo focused on audio quality, but the device's poor performance and disappointing display are a letdown.

Sturdy design ; Good sound quality

Subpar display ; Software update unlikely ; Sluggish performance, some hiccups

The only thing Lenovo's IdeaTab truly has going for it is its emphasis on audio quality, but when all is said and done, that's not enough for us to recommend it. The unforgivably shoddy display was far worse than we would have expected even at this...

Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 review

The IdeaTab A1000's specs aren't so different from the original Nexus 7, but the poor hardware choices Lenovo made make this a bad purchase, even though it's priced cheap.

It might be possible to put together a decent tablet at this price. Unfortunately, no company has yet proved this to be true. The IdeaTab A1000’s general specs aren’t so different from the original Nexus 7 or the Memo Pad HD, but the A1000 is a poor...

Lenovo IdeaTab A1000

The Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 might be among the most affordable tablets available, but its entertainment focus and front-facing speakers aren't enough to make up for an otherwise below average device.

Loud, front-facing stereo speakers. Affordable. Runs Android 4.2.

Below average display with poor viewing angle. Clunky build. Middling battery life.

Conclusions The Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 is affordable and has an above average set of speakers, but it makes too many sacrifices with features and performance. The display is fairly dismal and the performance is as pedestrian as it gets. The Asus MeMO Pad...

Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 review

Even when compared to other sub-$200 tablets in its weight class, the Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 comes up short in features, performance, and screen quality. While the microSD storage expansion is welcome here, it's not reason enough to buy the tablet. There...

The Lenovo IdeaTab A1000's Dolby Digital audio enhancement features make almost any pair of headphones sound great, and the microSD expansion slot is a welcome addition.

The tablet's screen is unfashionably low-res, with washed out color and narrow viewing angles. Graphics-heavy games chug something awful, apps sometimes stutter when launched, and Netflix video doesn't play.

The Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 is a meek 7-inch tablet that cuts far too many corners to reach its budget price.

Saints Row IV Benchmarked

Turn off your brain, prepare to laugh. You do not have to play Saints Row IV for very long before you realize that it is a bunch of anarcho-baloney. Prime grade baloney, that is. Whether the game's graphics and hardware appetite are equally as...

Despite the short length of the clip, the benchmark delivers relatively consistent results. In our experience, the amount of resources needed to compute this passage is above average, but we are not talking about anything extreme. During some scenes,...

Review Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 Tablet

Entry-level revisited. Lenovo releases a budget-friendly 7-inch tablet with Android OS and low-power hardware. Can the bargain-basement offering from the well-know manufacturer hold its own or have the cost-saving measures been taken too far?

Low price, Bright dsiplay, Sturdy design, Micro-SD card slot, The acceptable build quality and the bright display

Quality of the materials, Display resolution, Camera produces mediocre pictures, Colors are not very vivid., A higher display resolution is on top of our list. A better webcam would also be nice

Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 Review

Sure to attract some budget conscious individuals, the $160 priced Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 is no doubt something noteworthy to mention over other things. Seriously, we're crossing our fingers with this one, especially considering it's cheap – though, it...

Dirt Cheap ; Good battery life

Sluggish performance ; Low quality display ; Heavy in weight ; Bland design

Dirt cheap Android tablets are in abundance, but after the recent Google Nexus 7, it reestablished what it means to be a fantastic budget offering – while at the same time, set the bar higher for everyone else too. Even with its lower $160 base price...

Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 review

First announced in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, the IdeaTab A1000 is Lenovo's latest entry into the budget tablet market.

Since a fully updated IdeaTab A1000 loses its ability to synchronize applications after 50 MB of internal storage is used, and loses the ability to install any apps after using about 100 MB, it is impossible to recommend spending $129.95 on a tablet...
