Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium review: Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium

Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium

Lightweight; excellent battery life; relatively roomy hard drive.

Multiple input options, all of which are awkward; design gets only slight update from previous versions; more expensive than new Netbook-style laptops.

The new generation of similarly sized Netbooks do more and cost less than the Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium, putting another nail in the UMPC coffin.

Samsung Q1 Ultra-V

Long battery life, Bright 7-inch screen

Poor input, Vista runs at glacial speed, hurting productivity

This full-featured UMPC has a big, bright screen; but slow performance and an awkward keyboard mar its usability.

Samsung Q1 Ultra (Vista Home Premium) review: Samsung Q1 Ultra (Vista Home Premium)

Samsung Q1 Ultra (Vista Home Premium)

Appealing, polished design; multiple input options, including a QWERTY keyboard; lightweight; big, bright screen; inexpensive for a UMPC; relatively roomy hard drive.

Poor performance limits its versatility and appeal; battery life is still short of what's needed for a UMPC; no cellular broadband; the keyboard is an improvement over onscreen keys, but typing is still a challenge.

Despite making improvements to its UMPC, Samsung still has work to do. The underpowered Q1 Ultra is best used for on-the-go Web surfing, but there are better and cheaper devices for that specific task, including that new device from Apple you may have...

Samsung Q1 Ultra

Even with a keyboard and a dazzling screen, the Q1 Ultra, Samsung's second-generation UMPC, is still a work in progress.

Pointing stick and mouse buttons are a pleasure to surf with. Compact size. Sweet screen.

Integrated keyboard is welcome but needs work. Processing power is not up to speed with Vista's demands. Only 1GB system memory. Needs higher screen resolution. Still pricey.

Review: Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC

The Ultra is for ultra wide. While other UMPCs tend to have a boxy, chunky look, the Q1 frame measures just 9-inches wide and slightly...

Glossy black finish and sleek design cater to the stylish set. Big 7-inch touchscreen. SD media card slot, standard 3.5-mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi, and fingerprint scanner built in

Some input controls (mouse function, buttons for left and right clicks, and four customizable options) are too flat and less effective than the touchscreen-stylus combo. Slow to open and toggle between applications

Samsung Jitterbug OneTouch - SPH-A110 (Great Call) review

Intro

The Jitterbug OneTouch is very easy to use. Its display has large fonts, its buttons are big and easy to press, and contacts can be pre-installed into the phone. It comes with an operator service that guides users through the calling process. It rests...

The Jitterbug OneTouch is a little on the bulky side. The volume rocker is in an awkward position. It also doesn't have a numerical keypad, so this may not be the right choice for seniors who want more flexibility in their phones.

The Jitterbug OneTouch is a simple, easy-to-use phone that's ideal for senior citizens who want to stay in touch with loved ones.

Samsung Q1 ultramobile PC review

Starting at $1,099, the Samsung Q1 seeks to combine elements of a laptop, a tablet, a PDA, a PVP, an MP3 player, a GPS module, and a gaming handheld into a form factor that falls between that of a smart phone/Pocket PC and an ultraportable laptop ....

Beautiful, featherweight design; decent-size screen; multiple methods to navigate menus and input text; plenty of networking options; dual-mic array.

Lacks keyboard; poor performance; short battery life; weak speaker sound.

The Samsung Q1's sleek case is definitely eye-catching, but we expect better performance and battery life for a thousand of our hard-earned bucks.

Samsung Q1 Ultra

Microsoft created a ton of fuss with the launch of a version of Windows tuned for palmtops and other keyboardless PCs. But the devices that utilized it—code-named Origami—couldn't live up to the prelaunch hype. The initial Windows XP–powered...

Great screen, good battery life, and improved stylus input

still bad for the fingers; slow performance in media apps

We remain optimistic that Microsoft and its hardware partners will turn the UMPC tide and deliver a compelling touch-screen experience. There were marked improvements in battery life and input (when using the stylus instead of a finger) with this...

Samsung Q1 Ultra

When we reviewed the Samsung Q1, Samsung's first UMPC-- in fact, the first UMPC available in the US, it showed promise but was hobbled by a few flaws including a low resolution display that was sometimes too small to show entire dialog boxes, the lack...

Full Windows in a very portable format. Screen resolution is high enough for a near-notebook experience and the touch screen is accurate and responsive to finger touch. Good networking with Bluetooth, WiFi and even HSDPA on one model. Navigation...

Quite slow. Interacting with small on-screen elements like Start Menu program lists, hyperlinks and close boxes take a precise hand (and use of the stylus rather than a finger). The tiny keyboard is better than nothing, but not by much

Certainly an elegant and feature-rich device that addresses the first generation Q1's shortcomings. But for this price, I want more speed! Even simple tasks are annoyingly slow on the Q1 Ultra. But for those who need an goes-anywhere full Windows PC...

The Samsung Q1U Premium- What The UMPC Should Have Been All Along

Prior to jumping the Microsoft ship and diving straight into Mac-land I tried many of the ultra-mobile PCs that were initially released. I love the concept of being able to have a full computer with me all the time but never quite worked for me. I...

I just wish Apple made one like it- yeah I'm a diehard fan-boy at heart now.
