Good only for melting cheese or butter

I bought this on NeweggFlash for under $20, hoping it would melt butter on toast that's gotten cold, cheese on cooked hamburgers, etc, which it does just fine. That's all it does well. I hoped it might also be useful for toasting things that are a pain...
