Sharp Aquos LC-46LE821E 46in LED-Lit LCD TV

Sharp mixes in a yellow sub-pixel to the usual red, green and blue ones with great effect.

If Quad Pixel technology had been developed by the likes of Sony, Samsung or Panasonic, you can bet your bottom dollar they’d be screaming about it at the top of their marketing lungs from the top of the nearest mountain. Sadly, Sharp doesn't seem to...

Sharp Quattron LC46LE821E review

Forget 3D, Quattron technology is here to blow you away

Ground-breaking colours ; Often excellent picture generally ; Good design ; Freeview HD built in ; Decent connectivity

No online features ; Black levels could be better

The whole world and its mother seems to be talking about 3D right now. That's where the hype machine is headed, to an extent unprecedented since the first arrival of HD.

Sharp Aquos Quattron LC-46LE821E television

The Sharp Aquos Quattron LC-46LE821E comes stuffed full of technology. It is highlighted for that extra sub-pixel, which adds yellow to the normal red, green and blue palette, promising a wider colour range than ever before. It is most likely, however,...

Great picture, once you get it under control, slim profile, good menus, USB media playback, Freeview HD tuner

No IPTV services, reds look a little suspect, home networking doesn't offer video playback, price

The Sharp Quattron will give you a stunning picture, but is it a picture that justifies the £400 to £500 bump over rival Sony or Samsung models of similar specs? We can't confidently say yes.

Sharp Aquos LC-46LE821E review

While most TV manufacturers have focused on adding a third dimension to their 2010 TV ranges, Sharp chose to buck the trend and go in a different direction by introducing its Quad Pixel technology. This adds a fourth, yellow, sub-pixel to the...

Sharp LC46LE821E

Class leading colour response, appealingly slender chassis, solid connectivity

Black colours look a bit grey, the set is expensive, and there are no online features

Sharp Aquos LC-46LE821E 46in quad-pixel TV

An innovative four-pixel display design that produces rich colour quality – albeit at a price.

Sharp’s Quattron technology really does produce excellent colour reproduction, and it's good to see Sharp doing something genuinely innovative at a time when all its rivals are following the 3D bandwagon like a herd of sheep.

Sharp Quattron LC-46LE821E

Picture quality is great (especially on Dynamic) and has different picture settings, and the full HD = WOW! Inputs - a good selection and I put a few films on a USB stick and it was able to play them (but not entirely viewed) unlike some TV's that just...

PICTURE QUALITY - I know it was mentioned as a good point but a bad point is when viewing from an angle (approx 45°) when you notice the quality of the picture a bit 'washed out' but still viewable, but the colours are not as great as when sitting in...

The colour is sensational and using it with a high definition dvd surround sound system, it is like being in the cinema.
