Review: Sharp Aquos LC-32GP1U

Rule #1 for sizing up gadgets? Don't believe the hype. Sharp tried to convince us that its Aquos LC-32GP1U was the greatest thing to happen...

Compact and intuitively designed. Light enough to throw…trust us. Offers a veritable input orgy (3 HDMI, 2 component, DVI, composite, and S-video). Console gaming blazes with virtually no hiccups at 6ms response time. 10,000:1 contrast ratio produced...

At this price, why not invest in a larger 1080p TV? Base requires assembly out of box. Lacks quick options for dialing color temperature. Missing PiP nixes multi-task viewing. 10W speakers aren’t waking any neighbors

still going

I'm glad the row of pixels that went out were real low on the screen, I got use to it. Sharp service sucks !

has a loads of hookups, RCA/HDMI/DVI

had a line of pixels go out, not one or two but a whole line go black, talked to Sharp Tech several times but they wouldn't help me out

Awesome

I would buy another if I had room.

Very clean picture, easily handles tons of devices, works very well as a computer monitor.

One or two bright pixels, fixable with a screen fixer like jscreenfix.

Greatest HDTV I have ever known

This TV is phenomenal, the picture is incredible, it looks great and it's not that heavy. I have my PS3, X-box 360 and Wii all connected to this TV and it's so simple to switch in between them. I also used it as a computer monitor and Oh MY G*D!...

Incredible picture quality. Pretty lightweight. Many, many inputs. Great looking design.

The bass seems to overpower the TV speakers so I highly recommend buying a 5.1 speakers for your TV, trust me you will thank me.

32" Sharp LCD GREAT PRODUCT

Only found one dead pixel so far (stuck green) in the left center of the screen, I will tell you though that Unless you set the entire screen to a black backround and get within 1 foot of the tv youre never going to notice or find any stuck pixels...

Purchased through newegg with free shipping and recieved product ahead of schedule, newegg also had the cheapest price by at least $40 compared with other online sites. 1080p looks fantastic as a computer monitor even when youre only 3-4 feet away, I...

I wish it had another set of additional component video inputs on the back of the TV as opposed to the vyper drive set on the side since this causes the cables to stick way out, all the more reason to upgrade to HDMI cables.

Excellent Television and Computer Monitor

The cons, for me anyway, are very negligable. If you need a perfectly color accurate TV/Monitor combo, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Otherwise, I highly recommend this TV for gaming, movies, tv and general desktop use.

I will start off with stating that video games, look simply amazing on it. Full 1080p when playing games on my Mac with it just look stunning. The Wii looks great with some sharpness tweaking (using component cables and 480p). PS2 games also look very...

Slight red and blue push, making red and blue text hard to read on certain background colors (I wonder though if this is in part the fault of the dynamic contrast pushing colors to be more intense). You can't totally disable the dynamic contrast but...

Wow!

Some people have found this TV to have a slight bit of red push but this can be counter-acted by changing the color temperature in the settings.

The picture is incredible! I have used this with the Playstation 3 and as a computer monitor and it has excelled at everything so far. There is more than enough inputs for me to use and almost everything can be adjusted in the settings. Doesn't hurt...

I wish the TV could tilt or swivel, but the viewing angle is great and this hasn't been an issue so far (although it could be in the future). Of course the speakers are pretty weak as well but what did you expect from television speakers?

Good but not perfect

I like the TV, it's just minor issues that I have with it that keep it from being a 5/5 for me. A few stuck pixels developed after a month or two, but they're not really noticable unless it's a really dark scene or I'm up really close to the TV....

Plenty of video inputs, great picture, film mode for interlaced film content, 1080P OVER COMPONENT, plenty of picture options. Remote with plenty of buttons for usability. Ability to select different AV Modes from button on remote. Very little/no...

Reds bleed when you turn the backlight down, DVI-I input can't display 1080p from VGA sources, which is quite annoying. For example, the 360 won't work with 1080p over VGA, and I can't do 1080p from my lpatop, although I think that's also partially the...

SHARP LC-32GP1U

I haven't figured out yet how to make the max resolution fit completely on the screen or even if it's possible. I'm running an ASUS 8800gt at a custom rez of 1800x1000 to get my desktop to fill the screen. Overall I would recommend this to anyone...

I bought this thing to use a computer monitor and it does a very good job. The colors, especially flesh tones are right on, after I got the Vyper drive working. That entailed an HMDI adapter on the side to convert my DVI cable. I had it hooked up...

Doesn't tilt or swivel. I hadn't thought about that before I bought it but then it is a TV and not many TV's do those things. I have it on a coffee table that makes it the right height and with the 178 degree viewing angles it hasn't been a problem.
