Very good HD pictures ; Well designed

Too expensive ; Feeble audio ; Not the best SD

Despite this TV's hi-def talents, it's not a good enough all-rounder to justify its hefty price

HD images save the day, decent black levels, neat design, 100Hz works pretty well

Standard def performance only average, sound rather weak, a touch expensive all things considered

A fine all round performer frustratingly let down by a few minor glitches.

Exceptional detail and resolution in [Dot by Dot] mode ; 100Hz] doubles motion resolution without significant artifacts ; Good to excellent video processing

Uneven screen uniformity (may be specific to my review sample) ; Red push ; D65 calibration not possible from user menu

Screen unevenness and red push tarnish the Sharp LC42XL2E that otherwise deserves praise for its detail, motion handling and video processing.

Great picture quality for watching sport and films. Straightforward installation and set-up. LCD screen requires less electricity and is therefore more environmentally friendly that plasma screen.

'EPG' channel guide function can be slightly frustrating as it is not particularly responsive when scrolling down the list of channels and there is no 'page down' function to overcome this.
