Sharp Aquos LC-40CT2E

Sharp keeps mainstream with this well-priced, Freeview HD-ready, 40-inch LCD TV.

Sharp LC40CT2E review

This Freeview HD telly offers fantastic value for money

Freeview HD tuner ; Excellent contrast ; Colour ; The price

User interface ; SD pictures ; Audio

Dedicated Freeview HD boxes currently cost around £150, so to find the Sharp LC40CT2E 40-inch LCD TV with a Freeview HD tuner built-in for just £649 on the high street suggests something of a bargain (to see if you can get Freeview HD broadcasts text...

Sharp LC-40CT2E television

Sharp has hit the headlines recently for its new Quattron TVs, which feature a new tech that adds yellow to the traditional RGB (red, green, blue) mix that dominates on all other TVs. They've been nicely reviewed, but a brand cannot survive on...

Blu-ray pictures, Freeview HD pictures, contrast

Weak sonics, austere Freeview HD menus, SD pictures

Find the LC-40CT2E for a decent price and it makes a lot of sense; some great Freeview HD pictures match contrast-heavy and generally filmic Blu-ray images. It's not all good - standard definition channels on Freeview are disappointing and so is both...

Simple, easy to use Guider (EPG). Freview HD picture quality very good.

On/off switch pointless as it is very inaccessible.

Sharp LC40CT2E

Picture great - as long as you don't sit too close - but that's prob true of most large screens. Much less reflection on screen from my big windows during the day :) ... not that i spend all day watching TV ;)

Doesn't seem to pick up the scart input very happily - always defaults to digital tv - plus a lot of green stripes around screen whilst trying to get correct input. To be fair, if my daughter hadn't sat on my logitech harmony remote (buy onr of these!)...

Easy to setup and intuitive menu system. Good quality remote. I bought this based on the superior picture quality and reasonable sound quality. Sony Bravas eat my dust....

Er... none

Sharp LC40CT2E

TV is easy to set up, and comes with a variety of ports that will satisfy most. Good build quality for something of this price. Remote is easy to use as are the menus. Good picture and sound quality, so over all very happy with the purchase

The only bad point i've found is that when using the EPG and you want to watch something later in the day. You can't select the tv to automatically switch over to that channel as you can with most.
