The Sony A80J may not have every bell and whistle, but it is one of two OLED TVs everyone should consider buying.
“The Sony A80J is an impeccable TV. One of the best ever made.”

The Sony A80J OLED is a high-end OLED TV. It sits below the Sony A90J OLED in Sony's 2021 lineup, and although there are a few drawbacks compared to the higher-e...
Displays proper chroma 4:4:4. Incredible reflection handling. Removes 24p judder from any source. Low input lag. Two HDMI 2.1 ports. Image stays accurate at wide viewing angles. Wide color gamut. VRR and ALLM support after firmware update. No issues...
No FreeSync support. Low frame rate content appears to stutter. OLEDs are prone to permanent burn-in. Doesn't get bright enough to fight intense glare. Can't hit the brightest highlights in HDR. Issues displaying a 1440p resolution.
The Sony A80J is excellent overall. It's fantastic for watching movies in dark rooms because it has a near-infinite contrast ratio that produces deep blacks, and there's no blooming around bright objects. HDR content looks amazing because of its deep...

Performance Features Ergonomics Value
Sony's new XR-65A80J OLED TV isn't a member of the company's Master Series—that designation belongs to its XR-A90J OLED models, which are spec'd to deliver higher brightness than the XR-A80J sets. And while we haven't yet tested those pricier Sony...

The Sony Bravia XR A80J's many forward-thinking features result in a TV that make it as good-looking and -sounding as it is convenient and fun to use.
Outstanding picture, audio quality ; Lots of dynamic and smart features that really work ; Google TV interface is powerful and friendly
Dynamic adjustments all but required for best picture ; Not all HDMI ports support HDMI 2.1 standard ; Bravia Core streaming service doesn’t dazzle
) that will satisfy. But when you look at the complete package—which includes that killer sound; the abundant, finely tuned picture technologies, and Google TV with all the associated tie-ins—and the A80J is one tantalizing TV.

Sony is back with another excellent OLED TV: The Bravia A80J impresses with a picture quality that is close to the flagship model A90J.
Sony A80J delivers exceptionally great image quality with excellent contrast and color reproduction. The sound from the built-in speakers is also excellent.
The Sony screen must (so far) do without the gaming features VRR and ALLM - this is promised via an update. Only two of the four HDMI inputs are HDMI 2.1 compatible.
Sony has in many ways set the bar for picture quality so far in 2021: The amazing A90J is among the most powerful we have tested so far this year. But it also has a relatively juicy price! Therefore, it is gratifying that the cheaper A80J also achieves...

For home cinema fans the Sony A80J is a talented HDR performer, while daytime TV viewers benefit from impressive upscaling and motion skills
Detail, clear and colourful image from any source ; Dynamic, direct sound ; Excellent motion processing ; Google TV smarts ; Intelligent design
Dolby Vision performance less vibrant than rivals ; PS5 owners get the best gaming performance
For home cinema fans the Sony A80J puts in a talented HDR performance, while daytime TV viewers benefit from its impressive upscaling and motion processing. The sound is also better than you’d expect, but if you’re into gaming and aren’t a PS5 owner,...

What Hi-Fi? Awards 2021 winner. Sony's step-down OLED is superb
Super-sharp and detailed ; Punchy and vibrant but natural ; Superb motion handling
Incomplete HDMI 2.1 feature set
It’s almost as good as the awesome A90J and a whole lot more affordable, and that makes the Sony A80J / A84J an absolutely brilliant buy
