Meta's Quest 3 costs $200 more than the Quest 2. How much have performance, graphics, mixed-reality, and comfort improved and is it worth the price?
Doubles Quest 2 GPU performance Crisper graphics with 30% more pixels Sharp, clear lenses without god rays Mixed reality is good enough to use a phone Depth sensor automatically maps your room Ringless controllers are less breakable Great price for a...
Battery is still in front, adding face pressure Passthrough cameras are good, not great No silicone cover included
“If you’ve been sitting on the VR sidelines, the near-perfect Meta Quest 3 is the headset you’ve been waiting for.”
Expert review by : Will Greenwald (pcmag.com)
The Meta Quest 3 is the gold standard for standalone VR headsets thanks to its swift processor, high resolution, and color pass-through cameras that enable high-quality augmented reality.

Adding mixed reality to virtual reality makes for a dramatically improved headset, but Meta's virtual worlds are still ghost towns.
Dramatically improved object detection and hand tracking. Enhanced visuals with greater FOV. Full color, higher resolution pass-through is a dramatic improvement …
… but pass-through is still noticeably fuzzy. OS and UI remain stubbornly dated (you still can't organize apps!). Much higher price points than Quest 2. Horizon Worlds is a ghost town.

Finally an affordable MR headset for everyone
Sleek, lightweight design ; Full-color passthrough mode ; Large library of games ; Great audio ; Powerful, seamless virtual and mixed reality experiences
More expensive than the Quest 2 ; Same battery life as the Quest 2
The Meta Quest 3 brings a sleeker design, more powerful CPU and more memory for seamless virtual and mixed reality experience. Best of all, it's under $1,000.

Meta Quest 3 improves upon one of the most popular VR headsets on the market today in several key places -- but do you really need the upgrade?
Expert review by : Kerry Wan (zdnet.com)
The Meta Quest 3 brings meaningful hardware upgrades across the board, with notable software updates that have kept it more relevant than ever in 2024.
Detailed imagery with improved passthrough ; More compact and comfortable form factor ; Rich catalog of games and services ; Accessibly priced
Battery life could be better (still less than 2 hours) ; Not the easiest to wear with glasses

Ability to fine-tune IPD ; Tons of gaming + experience options ; Can be tethered to PC ; Battery cover doesn't fly off
Straps can snag hair ; Tricky to nail in-headset screen captures

Meta has pulled off something very special.
Colour passthrough opens up AR ; Brilliant app experience ; No need for external sensors ; Fully standalone
Passthrough could be sharper ; Weight unevenly distributed ; No facial tracking
The Meta Quest 3 builds on the best elements of Meta’s Quest 2 and Pro headsets, and provides us with a new gold standard in standalone VR. With improvements in colour passthrough, build quality, boundary setting, resolution, and lens design, the Meta...

After the Meta Quest Pro, the former Oculus company presented the Meta Quest 3. We reviewed the mixed-reality VR headset for you.
Best mixed reality experience (passthrough) ; Very good picture quality due to pancake lenses ; Really cheap for the great performance ; Optimal hand tracking
No face and eye tracking ; Limited battery life ; Lens reflections ; Long charging times
Technically, there is nothing to complain about in the brand-new Meta Quest 3. In my eyes, it is clearly better than the Meta Quest Pro, which is more than double its price, especially in terms of passthrough, i.e. mixed reality. Well, it does not have...

The Meta Quest 3 represents the best of VR. It's a console that's easy to use and provides a huge next-generation upgrade over the Oculus Quest 2. Almost everything's better. A true next-gen upgrade.
