The WebCam Live! Ultra is a respectable (although not inexpensive) choice for individuals buying their first webcam. Image quality is only average, but it's as good as the quality you will get from most budget-price webcams.
Easy to set up and use, impressive software bundle
no pan or tilt features, base works better on LCD and notebook displays than CRTs or other flat surfaces

Creative's WebCam Live! Ultra for Notebooks has a price tag that's high enough to move it out of the fun gadget category and into more serious territory. If you have a true need (rather than a simple desire) for a webcam, the Ultra's features and...

76º camera angle ; Compact yet highly durable construction
Inaccuracy of "Face tracking" feature, Software needs a few refinements
The Creative Ultra! Live for Notebooks is a well-built, durable webcam aimed at style-conscious laptop users. However, we look forward to future, more refined releases of the Creative software.

CCD Sensor, wide view angle, simple setup and use, can operate at 640 x 480 @ 30fps
Expensive, resource intensive software, limited features in included software
An easy to use and capable webcam, although slightly expensive.

The Creative Live Cam Notebook Ultra is about the closest alternative to an integrated laptop Webcam; unfortunately its image quality is no better than average.
Compact size ; Clips securely to laptops ; Included headphone/microphone set improves audio
Poor image quality, particularly in low light ; Wide-angle lens has unintended fisheye effect
Other extras in the box include a travel pouch and a headphone and microphone set. Audio quality improved by using the tethered mic instead of the Webcam's integrated one, but you'll be appearing in your Webcam video wearing earbuds with a mic clipped...

This Webcam boasts good-quality video, photo, and sound, but its performance with video instant messengers could be better.
Rotates 360 degrees; useful software bundle.
Pixelated and dark images with video instant messaging; stand isn't compatible with CRT monitors.
This Webcam provides great software and good video and picture quality for amateurs, but more-advanced users may crave additional settings and editing options.
Consumer review (newegg.com)
I'm using this with yawcam for a poor man's motion activated security camera. it gives me a bigger view of the room which is what I was looking for. Much nicer than my ancient first gen webcam from 4 years ago.
nice wide angle lens and reasonably sharp images. Decent amount of correction controls and the face detection is a potentially nice feature that I turned off
short cable, limited mounting options and no vertical adjustment
Consumer review (newegg.com)
I bought this camera to record the suspicious activities when I'm not home. The software allows you to record every time it detects motion. Unfortunately it crashes all the time. I tried to reinstall the drivers but the problem persists. No...
Wide viewing angle. Decent picture quality
Terrible drivers.! Terrible software! Crashes all the time.No live support. Very poor documentation
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Wish I had gone with another brand. Not making the mistake of going with Creative again.
Cheap if you can get it on sale. Neat effects can be overlayed the picture if you turn them on
Drivers are terrible. Creative's drivers keep getting hijacked by Windows drivers, leading to a BSOD. The drivers on Creative's website are from a year earlier than the drivers that came with the web cam. Technical support was non-existent. I have to...
