The Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 may be the company's high-end webcam, but it offers only midrange performance and features.
Compact design. Plays nicely with Windows Live Messenger. Noise-canceling microphone. Bundled software simplifies basic functions like video recording and blogging.
Boring looks. Limited range of movement. Slow, inaccurate white balance. Lame batch of special effects. Mediocre image quality.
There's a single button atop the LifeCam; you can use it to place a video call to a selected Windows Live Messenger contact, but you can't remap it for other purposes. The Messenger software comes bundled with the camera and enables voice and video...

Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000
Compact size and sturdy base; acceptable picture quality for video calls; decent audio.
Grainy video at lower resolutions; video gets choppy at higher resolutions; software has some annoying quirks.
There are better Webcams that you can buy with your $100 than the Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000.

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 is an excellent webcam with a wide variety of resolution settings and options. It has a built in Microphone for great audio performance and a very good stand / clamp attached to the webcam. With 2.0 MP video resolution and...

The Lifecam VX-7000 offers a reasonable performance in most areas, but $150 is a pretty big ask for a webcam; particularly when some of its premium features don't work properly. Only consider buying if you're a Windows Live fan.
Arresting design, easy setup, can be mounted on a variety of surfaces
2Mp video lags badly, certain features only work with Windows Live Messenger

When it comes to its hardware peripherals, Microsoft is a firm believer in enthusiastic overkill. The minions under Bill Gate's whip love nothing more...

Microsoft's Lifecam VX-7000 is a 2 megapixel webcam designed for use with either your desktop computer or laptop but does it offer you good video conferencing? We get video calling everyone in our contacts book to find out. Sporting a 2 megapixel...
Relatively easy to install, good picture quality
Insists on trying to load Microsoft Live during install to use "full functionality", lead not long enough to plug into machine under desk, slightly fiddly stand/clip arrangement
An average webcam for video communication, the Microsoft Lifecam VX-7000 offers good picture quality, but comes with some minor niggles (stand and lead length), both of which let the device down.

It is described as a notebook web cam, I see no reason why it should not be used with any flat panel and even with a CRT monitor, the latter maybe with a couple of sticky pads.

Webcam The main body of the unit is about the same size as the average solid-state MP3 player, and this sits on top of a simple, yet effective base unit that also doubles up as a clasp assembly for securing the Lifecam to the top of your monitor or...
On the positive side, the VX-7000 handles low light conditions adequately, and does a good job of compensating the overall image for the best quality. The usual manual image adjustments are always on hand for fine-tuning, but mostly are not required
