HTC Desire X review: one last hurrah for a former flagship?

Before we go into more detail on HTC's Desire X, cast your memory back to a time before the outfit announced the "One" line of Android phones. You may remember names such as Wildfire, Sensation, Rhyme and, of course, Desire. Likewise, you may also...

Nice look and feel ; Vibrant display ; Sense should please owners of previous HTC handsets, newcomers to Android

Dated specifications ; Occasional performance glitches

If you're looking to make the leap from featurephone to something a little smarter, this is an ideal stepping stone, but don't be surprised if in 12 months you're wanting to upgrade again.

HTC Desire X review: Needs and wants

For one reason or another, the One series failed to live up to their potential in terms of actual sales, so HTC turned back to the time-tested Desire line to fill up the coffers and secure some time to regroup. A new attack on the high-end market takes...

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band 3G/HSPA support ; 4.0" 16M-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of WVGA resolution (480 x 800) ; 1GHz dual-core Cortex-A5 CPU, Adreno 203 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8225 chipset ; 768MB RAM ; 4GB of on-board storage, expandable...

Poor video recording for a dual-core chipset ; No front-facing camera ; Feeble loudspeaker ; Pricier than most direct rivals

HTC has done a good job of equipping its Desire X mid-range fighter. Its dual-core chipset gives you a smooth ride around the UI and garnished it with decent app performance, while the build quality and display are among the better in this price range....

HTC Desire X Review

Last time when HTC had a serious contender positioned in the mid-range Android category was when the One V hit the shelves. It was a cute little handset with good build quality and adequate performance. However, it has been a while since then, so we...

Attractive design ; Good screen quality ; Performance is top notch

Horrible physical buttons ; Low on native storage space

Chances are thatthe HTC Desire X is a phone that you won't regret getting. Its maker has managed to deliver a reasonably priced smartphone that looks good enough to make you want to show it off in public. Besides, the handset runs as smoothly as a...

HTC Desire X Review

A fresh look at an HTC favorite.

Great screen, beats audio is impressive, lag-free experience

Limited internal storage, back cover not easy to open

Similar to some of the other HTC phones I’ve reviewed recently, the specifications on the HTC Desire X won’t blow you away, but they aren’t too shabby either. The dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon S4 processor provides plenty of horsepower, so running through...

HTC Desire X Review

HTC's been pretty careful with the number of devices they’ve launched this year. Compared to most other Android manufacturers flooding the scene with...

Great Design ; Good Screen ; Solid Performance ; Has MicroSD card slot ; Removable Battery ; col_1_4 ; col_1_4 style="box border box_yellow

Physical buttons are hard to use ; Video recording/playback maxes out at 480 x 800 pixels resolution ; col_1_4 ; col_1_4 style="box border box_blue

HTC’s managed to make a very decent mid-range phone here, with the Desire X. It has it’s pros and cons, but it’s worth checking out, which is more than what I can say for a lot of other Android devices in this price range. Definitely recommendable.

HTC Desire X Android phone

Decent performance and an excellent screen make the HTC Desire X good value for money

Vibrant and bright SLCD screen ; Solid performance ; Good value for money

Some annoying Sense issues ; No front-facing camera ; Limited internal memory

The HTC Desire X aims to bring the distinctive style of the company's higher end devices to a low-cost, pre-paid phone. The lack of a front-facing camera and some annoying software issues aside, the Desire X largely succeeds thanks to an excellent...
