Nokia 6210 Navigator review: On the road again

In-phone GPS is no longer the next big thing in the industry. All right, it may not be run-of-the-mill just yet but it's where it's heading. The point now is how many extras will top the GPS and give users a bigger and better treat...

Built-in GPS with A-GPS, compass, 6-month navigation license and Nokia Maps 2.0 ; Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE ; Dual-band HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, localized versions ; 2.4" 16M-color QVGA display (larger than the one of Nokia 6110 Navigator) ; Symbian OS 9.3,...

Display still not big enough for comfortable in-car navigation ; Digital compass plays up and works only when not navigating ; Top row of alphanumeric keys crammed under the slider ; No Wi-Fi ; Camera has no lens cover ; Very awkward battery cover...

GPS aside, Nokia 6210 Navigator is running on the latest Symbian OS 9.3 with S60 3rd and FP2, and packs a good 3.2 MP autofocus camera, accelerometer, stereo FM radio and a 2.4" QVGA display. Smartphone expertise and GPS go hand in hand with superb...

Nokia 6210 Navigator

Navigation in your pocket... but at a price

Slimmer and lighter than predecessor, well laid out controls, Nokia Maps 2.0, HSDPA

Turn-by-turn navigation only free for six months, questionable build quality, Navigator concept lost, no cradle/window mount included

We were expecting big things from the 6210 Navigator, but the fact that turn-by-turn navigation is only free for six months is a huge disappointment. We can’t see the point of this handset when most handsets in Nokia’s new range offer GPS and Nokia Maps.

Successor to the 6110, Nokia's latest A-GPS Navigator doesn't have everything, but its on the right track.

Nokia 6210 Navigator review

Powerful sat nav and plentiful features add up to an attractive smartphone

A-GPS sat nav built in ; 1GB MicroSD card with maps supplied ; 3.2-megapixel camera ; HSDPA connectivity ; Symbian S60 smartphone functionality ; MicroSD card slot in the side ; FM radio ; Good web-based applications ; Solid sliderphone design

Quite heavy in pocket ; No Wi-Fi ; 2.5mm headphone jack socket rather than 3.5mm one ; LED rather than xenon flash for the camera ; No lens cover for camera

Nokia upgrades it Navigator Sat Nav slider mobile with another finely featured and user-friendly mid-tier smartphone

Nokia 6210 Navigator review

These can be used to plot a route to follow, with your current location updated as you go. Although these directions aren't in real-time, the Nokia 6210 Navigator gives you spoken warning about 300m before a turning you need to take.

The Nokia 6210 Navigator successfully marries mobile phone and navigation functions, but you won’t want to use it instead of a TomTom for regular journeys. Sitting at lights waiting for it to replan a route when you’ve got lost or jabbing at its small...

Nokia 6210 Navigator

Now with practically every Nseries and Eseries phone and rival flagship devices arriving with onboard navigation as standard, its successor, the 6210, faces far stiffer competition.

The 6210 remains a great sat nav smartphone but, apart from a six months free trial to sweeten the deal, you could argue Nokia stablemates like the N95 8GB, N82, N78, E71 E66 and 6120 Classic offer similar GPS performances, but with more mouth-watering...

Nokia 6210 Navigator review

The Nokia 6110 Navigator was a plucky sat nav phone hero, but can its successor, the 6210, boss the road once again?

A strong sat nav performer but let down by a lack of other compelling mobile features

Nokia 6210 Navigator

The Nokia 6210 Navigator is a smart looking phone with GPS and A-GPS navigation and mapping system as the main focus of the handset. The 6210 comprises a 3.2 mega-pixel camera with superb imaging features, a very large 2.4 inch QVGA display screen and...
