Sony Xperia XZ Smartphone Review

The visionary. Sony wants a revolution: the Xperia XZ aims to change our everyday life. However, with the exception of its 23 MP camera, most of its specifications are quite ordinary. Let us find out what this Sony flagship model is capable of.

stylish design ; good software ; various settings for sound and video ; fast fingerprint sensor ; reliable camera ; high-resolution front camera ; good pictures ; clear speech quality ; MHL, NFC, USB-OTG ; precise controls ; even illumination ; bright...

advertisement apps ; very high energy use ; slow memory transfer speeds ; GPS module takes long to find a lock ; high color deviations in the display

The visionary, the Xperia XZ, is sadly not strong enough to ignite a revolution. In many ways, this test model is far too conservative and does not take risks. We could classify it as reliable rather than "revolutionary". In the end, the Xperia XZ is...

Sony Xperia XZ review

Sony needs to get it together. I've reviewed its phones -- from the top of the line down to the most basic -- for several years now, and I hate to see the Xperia family decline. Hard truth: It just can't keep up with its competitors. Take this...

Sony's Xperia XZ looks good, it won't die when you spill your drink on it and its bold screen makes mobile games look great.

Its battery life doesn't impress, and nor does the camera. Its full HD display isn't as high resolution as most of its rivals.

The Sony Xperia XZ is a decent all-round phone, but it doesn't offer any competition to its main rival, the Galaxy S7. Its high price means the XZ isn't the phone to go for.

Sony Xperia XZ

Sony's Xperia XZ phone has promising hardware, but lags behind the unlocked Android competition in features and polish.

Fast performance. Solid camera. Strong network connectivity. Waterproof.

Overheating issues in testing. Mediocre battery life. No fingerprint scanner. Heavy UI layer.

Conclusions At $700, the Sony Xperia XZ is priced like a flagship phone, but it can't match the premium experience of devices like the Samsung Galaxy S7. It lacks a fingerprint sensor, has a lower-resolution display, and mediocre battery life. The...

Sony Xperia XZ Review

Sony is on an aggressive schedule: while most other companies are launching their new flagship phones once in a year, Sony is updating its top-line Xperia phones much more often, with a new phone every six months or so.

Stylish design with good-looking and original color selection ; Water-proof ; Dual front-firing speakers ; Expandable storage

Counter-intuitive camera interface ; No fingerprint scanner in the US ; Colors on the display are not properly balanced, appear bluish ; Expected to ship with Android 6 in times when Android 7 Nougat phones enter the market

Frankly, we’re perplexed by the price of the Sony Xperia XZ: it's sold at a whopping $700 in the United States. We expect this price to quickly go down in the coming few months, but right now, it looks less competitive than the Samsung Galaxy S7 that...

Sony Xperia XZ review: Sony fans finally get their flagship phone

Sony fans waiting for a true flagship Xperia in Singapore – your wait is over as the Xperia XZ is finally here. Sporting a 5.2-inch 1080p screen and Snapdragon 820 SoC, how does it measure up to other 2016 flagships? We find out.

Water and dust resistant ; Good camera performance ; Supports Hi Res Audio ; Solid built quality

Tired design ; Only full HD screen ; So-so battery life

The Sony Xperia XZ is indeed a flagship product that can compete with other flagship rival phones out there. The

Xperia XZ Review: Battery and Display Impress, Camera Does Not

The Sony Xperia XZ is a handsome choice that's comfortable to hold, and we like the vibrant screen and impressive 10-plus hour battery life. Given the phone's $699 price tag, though, it's hard to recommend the XZ over either Samsung's Galaxy S7 ($669)...

Bright display ; Comfortable grip ; Solid image stabilization on videos ; Impressive battery life

Doesn't live up to blur-free promise ; Photos shot in daylight appear too bright ; Distorted color in low-light shots

The Sony Xperia XZ has a beautiful display, better-than-average battery life and effective image stabilization, but it doesn't live up to the company's promise of a smartphone camera that produces blur-free images.

Sony Xperia XZ Review: Another Solid Xperia

The Sony Xperia XZ may not match the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 edge on paper, but it offers a decent experience nonetheless. Find out more about Sony's latest Android smartphone.

Great design and finish ; IP68 certificated ; Decent battery autonomy ; Fluid performance ; Great design and finish ; IP68 certificated ; Decent battery autonomy ; Fluid performance

It costs between $650 and $700, unlocked, for 32GB. As we’ve noted, that’s expensive considering the excellent options available for half as much. But expect to pay the same for a 32GB Galaxy S7 and 32GB iPhone 7.

Sony Xperia XZ review: back from Z dead

Every few months, Sony presents a new top smartphone – in autumn 2016, it's the Xperia XZ. In our test, it faces a tough rivalry because Google and Samsung are also offering some strong competition. In our detailed test, we look at whether Sony has not...

Display ; All-day performance

Speaker quality ; Camera default settings

The Sony Xperia XZ appears to be consistent with the previous Sony Xperias: good processing, fast processors and a good display without much Quad HD fanfare. The new design of the XZ is a matter of taste – I like it. The battery life at high usage is...

Sony Xperia XZ review

The Sony Xperia XZ is Sony's flagship phone for 2016. Slim and sleek, the XZ is a premium-build device running Android M and featuring a fast Snapdragon 820 processor with plenty of memory. Photography is a key strength too, thanks to its 23 megapixel...

Sony has a tendency to release phones that feature small incremental improvements over previous models, and that's not a strategy that we can really find fault with, especially when new models are released every six months. You could argue that it's...
