Cheap for a reason

I picked this up for $40 because if fit in the 15" wide space in our entertainment center. We bought it to replace our failing first DVD Player, also an APEX. It actually worked pretty good for the first 6 months or so. Then things went downhill. ...

Has a display, Good MP3 Player (shuffle mode works), small size

Poor quality components, terrible reliability/longevity

DVD player with a bad attitude

I read countless reviews of the Apex AD-1600 before I purchased it. Maybe because it was new, people weren't aware of the sub-par quality and mostly commented on the complex remote. The player only lasted one year and then developed a fatal ...

Not a Great Deal .... At Any Price. Avoid Like the Plague!

Apex brought a range of dirt-cheap DVD players onto the market. Probably the only thing positive about the Apex brand is that it caused the rapid downward pricing pressure on all other DVD players. I had the misfortune of getting an Apex AD-1600 DVD ...

Cheap and Versatile. A great 2nd player

The Apex 1600 is another in the line of DVD players that places extreme pricing pressure on the DVD playback establishment, and if for that alone, we all owe Apex a certain measure of affection. Made in mainland China, as so many cheap consumer goods...

Very low cost, plays anything you can throw at it.

Not the best quality control. Buy locally, so you can exchange it if necessary.

Don't Waste your Money

What a let down. We were so excited to finally be able to start a DVD collection, and were thrilled ...

It was free when we signed up for our DSL package from Sprint

Everything about it! It rarely recognizes that there is a Disc in it.

Don't Buy This

I bought this player for $55 at some sale, and I would have done better to just tear that money up and flush it down the toilet. It certainly would have saved me a lot of frustration.

Cheap price, but not much else

The most miserable customer service ever.

Snap, Crackle, Pop

The unit played one dvd without trouble. After that, it would whine, whir, stutter, pop for 5 or more ( many more ) minutes before transitioning to the next stage. e.g. main menu -> play movie.

Inexpensive

Cannot play most dvd's

You Really Only Get What You Pay For

When I first saw the Apex Model AD-1600 DVD player on sale the day after Thanksgiving for an incredibly low $48.00, I could not believe that such a bargain could exist. I thought to myself, " Even if it breaks in the first year, what have I got to...

EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT

I bought the Ad-1600 because it was one of the few DVD players that played WMA music files. WMA files are almost the same quality as MP3, but are much smaller files and are made with the Windows media player that is free with Microsoft Windows.

Plays WMA music files and JPG picture files (when it works).

Constant problems, absolutely terrible customer service.

Toy DVD player

This is the $50.00 DVD player if ever there was one. The Apex AD-1600 allows you to play a multitude of disc types such as VCD, DVD-R and MP3. The picture quality is acceptable for the average user with a small TV or a kid’s bedroom. It is not up...
