Nice, good quality 5-disc DVD player

Nice, good quality 5-disc DVD player

I've owned this player for 10 years (since 1999) and it still continues to work great. We watch Netflix movies on it all the time, and rarely is there a disc that it cannot read. Video and audio quality are both great, on standard def and hi-def...

Oldie but goodie

Oldie but goodie

First of all, people, please keep in mind that this DVD player model is 5 years old! Pre-MP3, pre-DVD+/-R, etc. If you bought this within the last year, you have only yourself to blame if it doesn't have all the formats you want. Research, research,...

Poor reliability

Poor reliability

I have owned my DVD player for 2.5 years. It won't play most of my DVDs and skips on the ones it does play. What a disapointment from the company you trust for product quality! Stay away from this product!

I have owned this DVD player for less than 2 years. Within the first 6 months it was in the shop for repairs to the laser. Now it will run for about half of the movie and start skipping and eventually stop playing all together. I have noticed that...

Not the best product by a longshot

I've owned this DVD carousel for about two years, and I bought it because, at the time, it seemed to be the highest quality carousel around. I will discuss features/issues, then ownership experience. On the feature side, I have found this player very...

This one is perfect for me.

The reason I bought this DVD player is because at the time I wanted a CD changer too. I could not have found a better all around machine for these two purposes. Plus with this, it takes up half the room of two devices.

Great Picture, Great Sound.

Very few.

Will not play CD-R

Will not play CD-R

If you make your own audio CDs at home, don't buy the Sony units. Sony decided to leave the capability out of their units to play CD-R. I bought one, got it home and learned the lesson the hard way. I returned the unit for a refund. Buy the...

Product Specifications

Sony introduced the first DVD carousel, the DVP-600D. The company's DVP-C650D improves on its predecessor with a lower list price, the ability to pass DTS audio signals and a Disc Explorer navigation system. The DVP-C650D is actually capable of controlling other Sony changers (both DVD and CD) with MegaStorage compatibility. Also, you can name DVDs and CDs in a Custom File. The DVP-C650D is better-featured than most 5-disc changers. It's the only model with a jog/shuttle dial on the remote control. It's also got a feature called Jacket Picture, which displays a picture of a compatible DVD's box. Another unique Sony tweak is the video equalizer, which allows you to make various adjustments to the picture and fine-tune video parameters. There are three presets and one memory slot to store your favorite settings. A defeatable digital noise reduction circuit should noticeably improve noisy pictures. Sony also touts the 650D's array of sound enhancements, such as simulated surround and the Digital Cinema modes.
