This is a pretty poor show for Sony. The box has been quite troublesome since I bought it. The DVD is extremely noisy, even when not playing a disk and the disk seems to whir and whir endlessly. The box kept needing to be re-tuned, however upgrading...

Only had this a few months. Most times when you turn it on it freezes and needs to be reset by pulling out the power cord. Timer recording has just stopped functioning - it says the disc is full when it is completely empty. Do not buy this junk.

I have had several excellent Sony DVD recorders (RDR-HXD710 etc.) in the past, and my Mother (in her 80's) even uses one to dub HDD copies to DVD! The newer models are completely different and are an operational nightmare. I can only think Sony have...
