This is the 3rd DVD player I have owned. My reviews of the RCA (5220P)and Sony (DVP-S330) units are found elsewhere on Epinions, and I still use those other players in different rooms from time to time.

Product Specifications

DV-S5270 is Yamaha's entry-level single-disc DVD player capable of handling Dolby Digital and DTS Signals and playing CDs and Video CDs. Yamaha's most affordable DVD player ever, the DV-S5270 provides high quality playback of DVD Video, Video CD, and conventional audio CD. It passes Dolby Digital and DTS signals for decoding by an amplifier, receiver or dedicated processor. The high performance laser pick-up focuses independently to provide top-quality Video CD, Audio CD, and DVD performance. Cinema Image recognizes a movie and softens the brightness for better viewing on conventional direct view TVs. It also improves the visibility of dark scenes and reduces picture noise. Video specifications include MPEG-2 video with greater than 500 lines of horizontal resolution and luminance and signal-to-noise ratio of 65 dB. 96 kHz/24-bit compatible audio digital-to-analog conversion and 10-bit video D/A conversion assure that the DV-S5270 delivers superior performance. Featuring composite and S-video outputs, the DV-S5270 is a natural for sophisticated home theater or A/V systems. In addition to the optical digital output, the DV-S5270 provides stereo analog audio outputs. Control and operation is easy with the DV-S5270's well-designed remote control keypad.
