Performance

Yamaha DVD-S2300

Universal DVD-Audio/SACD player; superb sound; extensive bass-management facilities; excellent Genesis/Faroudja DCDi video processing with 3:2 pull-down.

Expensive; doesn't automatically play SACDs with best sound; lackluster remote; convoluted setup.

Yamaha's soundly built player delivers great sonics, and its video quality is a step above the competition's.

Nice, heavy equipment, well laid out front panel, comprehensive outputs, fabulous image and sound quality.

Remote window quite narrow - only about 30 degrees either side of horizontal or vertical.

"Great sound, price to high."

The real down side for me is lack of power standby and no progresive scan on Australian models. The 2300 Mk2 has a standby facility but this model was not released in Australia.
