Epson Photo Fine Player P-2000 review

Digital Photography Review checks out the P-2000, Epson's new 40GB digital photo viewer/storage device. Despite the fact that they could probably just as easily pimp the P-2000 as a personal media player, since it also supports playback of MP3 and AAC...

Epson P-2000

Player Type: Portable Media Player

The best display we've yet seen on a photo viewer or portable multimedia device. Highly attuned to the needs of digital photographers on the go.

Filenames restricted to 8.3 format (one to eight characters, plus file-type extension). Some noise in audio tracks.

The Epson P-2000 multimedia photo viewer is an excellent photo and video viewer with camera off-loading abilities. The image quality is breathtaking, and the viewer is very easy to use. You can display slide shows on-screen and with AV output. The P-2000

Epson P-2000 Multimedia Storage Viewer

The P-2000 looks like a pure indulgence when you take it from the box and turn it on for the first time. The 3.8in PhotoFine display is simply sublime. Looking a bit like a bloated XDA, the P-2000 holds a 40GB disk within its finely built form.

Well made and possessing just about the best colour LCD screen I’ve seen for this type of device.

Basic menu system, Clunky albums and slow to copy data even from SD or CF cards

Stunning screen, good price given the flexibility conspire to make the P-2000 a winner. It's a must-have for any photographer who needs extra storage in the field but with that certain something extra.

Epson P-2000 review – 007

The Epson P-2000 is described as a multimedia storage viewer, which effectively means it's a hard disk with a screen and sound.

The only regret is that it uses a proprietary battery, which means you have to take the charger with you. Standard AAs would be far easier when travelling.
