Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 review

Great for businesses that regularly deal with hundreds of hard copy pages, but others could do better with an MFP or portable document scanner

It may seem expensive for a scanner, but it's the document management features that makes the Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 a great buy. If you only need to scan the occasional document you may be better off with an MFP, but if you have either years of...

See: more scanner reviews.

Fujitsu has reminded us once again that the ScanSnaps lead the way in sheetfeed scanners. In all honesty, there was nothing a great deal wrong with the S1500, and we suspect owners of the older device won't have sufficient reason to upgrade. However,...

Piece of JUNK

TOTALLY USELESS JUNK PRICED OVER $400.

NONE

DOES NOT CONNECT TO A PC (Win 8 64 bit)

Junk

non

This is a piece of junk, it doesn't do any thing more than a print/scanner and a good software program. It does not connect to any network devices by wireless unless you use the supplied cable each and every time

If you buy this product, whatever you do, don't lose the box. I did, and now I'm stuck with it. If you're a home user running Windows 7 (can't speak for Mac OS) and have USB 3.0 ports on your computer, go for it.

Sleek look, and fairly compact to save desk space....oh and USB 3.0 but that's about all it's got going for it

This unit has to be extremely close to a WAP to get anything more than a weak signal ; Software is buggy in Windows 8 environment, either x86 or x64, installs fine but won't run after installation, not practical for RDS or network-only scanning ; No...

Superior Performance

Very Fast ; Wi-Fi ; Great Support ; Works well on Mac OS X ; Free Adobe Acrobat Standard ; Frequent Software Updates

Kinda Expensive ; Most of the extra software is PC only (which sucks) ; I wish it didn't have an external power brick

Fantastic Device

I bought this to better manage my bill filing (i.e. stop letting them pile up on the floor rather than filing). I tried with my epson all in one, but it didn't do duplex scanning and there was no easy way to interleave scans, so I bought this ix500. It...

Fast. Duplex scans both sides simultaneously. Works great

I wish the software was a bit better. When going through a pile of bills, it would be nice for the software to remain on the screen to easily switch modes between simplex and duplex scanning

Top Notch

This is a great product. I'm especially impressed by the device's paper handling and scan quality. So many uses from digitizing paper to reducing clutter, moving towards paperless office and scanning photos. I probably could've done well with the...

Every feature highlighted in its description works great, including WiFi connectivity, paper handling and scan quality

Haven't found any

Works great

We've rolled out probably 5 of these and about 20 of the s1500's. never one single problem with any of them in just over two years. If you ever have jamming issues, read the directions. Staggering the pages is required by even very high end scanners.

Great scanners for the office or home. Fast, flexible and almost never jams. it can even work as photo scanner if you need to make a quick slideshow and have stacks of old photos

No twain compatibility. as a company that has purchased so many of these, this is risky on our part. if someone decides to adopt an imaging system...we're back to purchasing a different scanner
