We have previously reviewed the Plextor PX-256M2S, a high-performance SATA 6Gbps SSD when it launched, even if its circa-430MBps speed has now been surpassed by more recent SSDs.

Amazing fast

This is my 1st experience w SSD technology. I'm kinda concerned about the technology, not sure how long it will hold up. It's working well in my 3 yr old Lenovo laptap. I'm impressed so far.

Picked Up The Pace

I don't believe in synthetic benchmarks. I need to see some tangible change in my everyday work load. I upgraded to this from a SATA II SSD and yes, I do see a quickening of some of my video editing tasks. Also, the size is just enough that 75% of the...

Speed. Why else would you buy an SSD? Heat? None. Electric usage? My machine is a pretty hefty rig (oc’ed 2600K, 680 SLI, RAID 5) so any reduction in electric usage is just a drop in the bucket

Blazing fast speeds -- POST took me longer than windows boot up even before I activated the RAID controller for my data drive. This drive runs blazingly fast

Terrible drives

My coworkers said that plextor is the best, but i dont think i will ever purchase them again. 42% failure rate is not acceptable. I will seek out better alternatives.

Plextor PX-128M5S

I like this drive so far. Not as fast as my 840 pro (from benching only) and much faster than any Intel 330 or any reliable SF drives for that matter.

Not a Sandforce controller ; One of the faster drives for its price range ; Effective TRIM

No software, cables, screws included ; Firmware update is not a push of a button, you have to burn the iso and boot from cd, but once done, firmware update was solid and hassle free
