Say 'yes' to a high-end Blu-ray player that says 'no' to BD Live
Excellent sound quality ; 7.1 channel analogue outputs
No Ethernet port for BD Live ; No onboard DTS HD MA decoding via analogue
There are certainly a lot of wishlist features that have been trimmed off the LX71, but they keep this deck to a nice price, and you probably won't miss them anyway when the picture and sound is this good

The Pioneer BDP- LX71 may lack the versatility of some rivals but picture and sound quality still excel
Superb looks and build quality ; rich, refined sound ; detailed picture
No onboard DTS-HD master Audio decoding ; only Profile 1.1 ; similar performance available for less
The 'LX71 may lack the versatility of some rivals but picture and sound quality still excel

The Pioneer LX71 is a great Blu-ray player, despite a slow loading speed for interactive discs and the high price.
Picture and sound quality ; Styling is symmetrical and lovely ; Great selection of outputs including 7.1 audio
It's quite big ; Expensive ; Only Profile 1.1 ; No internal DTS-HD decoding (yet)
If you can get this for a good price, go for it. Otherwise, we seriously love the Panasonic DMP-BD35 and suspect the BD50 will be top of its class. We also like the PS3, which is half the price and loads interactive content over twice as fast, although...

Pioneer's latest Blu-ray deck is promising to take hi-def video to new heights. But how does it fare in the test lab?
Raises the bar for Blu-ray decks and worth its hefty price tag if you want the best

This would be our "money no object" choice. Unfortunately, times are tight. Still, the Pioneer BDP-LX71 produces some of the best video and audio around.
Stylish touchscreen mobile at an equally stylish price.
It's lacking Wi-Fi, 3G, DivX and XviD playback.

The Pioneer BDP-LX71 is a Profile 1.1 Blu-ray player (1080p, 24fps) capable of playing the full range of DVD formats, DivX and AVC-HD. Up-scales to 1080p, progressive scan, digital filters, pixel scaler and deep colour. The good What's a Blu-ray player...
Treat your DVDs to this powerhouse of a Pioneer and they will worship you as a deity, leaving tiny offerings of deleted scenes and directors’ commentaries by your bed each night. And verily shall they tremble before your mighty remote control! Pioneer...

Spectacular video and audio with the Pio LX609.

ZZZzzzzzzzzzzz....you will die of natural causes well before the disc has loaded
Consumer review (cnet.com.au)
Very well built player, outputting some excellent pictures as well as sound.
Beautiful picture (1080/24P) ; HDMI 1.3a (for digtal bitstream of True HD & Master Audio) ; 12 bit Deep Colour capable ; Solid quality build ; BonusView (Profile 1.1)
Quite expensive ; No BD-Live (not really a problem at this stage)
Consumer review (cnet.com.au)
This is my first blu-ray player and I love it. The build quality is excellent, and the picture and audio quality are outstanding. If you prefer a higher end product to a Sony or a Panasonic, then this is definitely one to consider. Plus Pioneers are...
Very good build, picture and audio quality. Easy to set up. Looks great
No DTS-HDMA internal decoding yet (due early 2009). Not a huge step up from the cheaper 51 model
