The Samsung BD-E8500A offers smooth TV and disc video performance with perhaps the best set of "smart" features available

Good DVD/Blu-ray picture performance. Excellent twin tuner PVR. WiFi for convenient connectivity. Excellent range of smart functions.

Progressive scan conversion only adequate on DVD. A bit expensive. Access to TV recordings burying deep in menu.

Samsung BD-E8500A Blu-ray/PVR

I had the BD-E8500A for a week. The whole dam thing freezes up in the middle of playing a disc. I mean the whole thing freezes up. It doesn't even respond to the remote. I have to pull the plug on the unit. Then it powers up again, but a short time...

good when it works

i went with the 1Gb unit...i found the simple style appealing & since i also have a samsung 3d tv the remote will work with both. i did buy during a sale so gladly did not pay rrp, which is absurd.

Great storage, sleek unit, decent 3d

nonsensical menu's, occasional disc boot drama, resetting clock with power outs
