Sharp BD-HP21U Blu-Ray Player

The Sharp BD-HP21U packs lots of metal - literally. It's a large and heavy Blu-ray Disc player, so much so that you could mistake it for an old Laserdisc player.

I rec. one of these as a gift in Dec of 2009 from my wife.  When it works, it produces a great picture on our HD TV.  The problem is that some popular Blu-ray discs would not play on this player and I had to download and install new firmware from Sharp...

If you're trying to get the new technology without blowing your budget, move on. This thing will leave your wallet $50 lighter but you won't have anything to show for it. If you get it to work, it takes forever. If you need it to work, good luck!
