With 4K Blu-ray having finally arrived in 2016 and streaming players costing as little as $30 , it seems almost "retro" to be buying a 1080p disc player these days. Or does it? Standard Blu-ray discs lack the benefits of HDR but can still look better...
The Sony BDP-S3700 Blu-ray player demonstrates good features and performance for the money. The number of streaming apps is solid, and disc loading times are fairly respectable.
Entering text in apps is laggy and frustrating. The implementation of the PlayStation Now gaming app is relatively poor.
The Sony BDP-S3700 Blu-ray player offers a lot of features for little money but a lack of input responsiveness can spoil some of the fun.

The Sony BDP-S3700 Blu-Ray player is an excellent mid-range device, offering playback of 2D Blu-Ray disks, DVDs & CDs, as well as streaming content from Netflix, the BBC iPlayer and from connected smartphones, tablets and PCs. Fast Wi-Fi support is...
The Sony BDP-S3700 looks set to be Sony's most popular Blu-Ray player for 2016, thanks to its well-balanced set of features. The player omits 3D playback, but includes Wi-Fi support and smart content, making it the "Goldilocks" option for the majority...

An impressive picture and decent sound make for a good value Blu-ray player...
Detailed picture ; Solid upscaler ; Smooth motion ; Subtle contrast
Would benefit from a more dynamic sound
A low-cost home cinema setup would welcome the addition of this Blu-ray player

The Sony BDP-S3700 is a mid-range Blu-ray player with built-in wi-fi and smart apps. You'll also be able to connect your smartphone and cast content from it to your TV. But how well does this player do the basics, such as play Blu-ray discs and DVDs?...
Consumer review (sony.com)
I wanted something with wi-fi that was easy to use and set up, and this was reasonably priced and compact as well. I think this a very good product and recommend it for it's cordless internet connection and ease of use.

Very good price for the features, would buy it again.

This was given to me as a gift - I can play dvd's or watch Netflix - cannot say enough about how much I enjoy using it or how easy it is to use!

I was hesitant to purchase this player since I saw numerous reviews indicating it would stop working and you had to unplug it to get it to reboot. Also, lots of comments on the player locking up & you couldn't get your disc out. So far I have used it...

This is the 2nd Sony Blu Ray Disc - DVD player we have bought in less than 6 months. Both have died on us for no reason. We don't have babies that would be messing with them or be rough with them. I will not be buying another one of this brand.
