Toshiba's debut Blu-ray deck makes the most of limited haul of features
Picture quality from Blu-ray and DVD ; Easy setup
No USB port ; Wi-Fi or built-in memory ; Slow disc loading
There's nothing here you wouldn't find on a £99 deck save for consistently excellent pictures from both Blu-ray and DVD

Like a Phoenix from the flames, Toshiba has at last put pride where it belongs and jumped on the Blu-ray bandwagon and we're glad it did. Late to the Blu-ray market it may be, but this deck from the inventors of the once-rival HD-DVD format treats both...
Detail from Blu-ray, DVD upscaling, colours, music
No Wi-Fi connectivity, no built-in memory, expensive
Late to the Blu-ray market it may be, but this deck from the inventors of the once-rival HD-DVD format treats both Blu-ray and DVD discs with rare skill. For Toshiba, it's just a shame that a lot of other manufacturers got there first and are now...

Impressive Blu-ray video and audio performance. Acceptable load times. Simple menu/set-up system.
Bit light on features. No XDE DVD upscaling. Established competition.
Toshiba's BDX2000 Blu-ray player is a little light on features, but offers great picture and audio quality at an affordable price.

At first glance, the slim Toshiba BDX2000 - the company's first Blu-ray Disc player - seems unexceptional, with limited extras and a boxy remote. But when you pop a Blu-ray disc into it and see what the BDX2000 can do, you'll realise what a bargain it is.
Great image quality saves the Toshiba BDX2000 from being just another mundane, low-cost Blu-ray player.

The Blu-ray versus HD DVD format war ended back in February 2008, when Toshiba announced that it was halting production and development of its HD DVD players. And now, after months of digging its heels in and avoiding the inevitable, the company has...

Toshiba's first Blu-ray player is neither a runaway success nor a shocking failure - it simply fails to excite.
Although it’s a little slow in operation, and missing out on features like network media playback, the BDX2000 does have price in its favour. Even so, competition is getting tougher at this end of the market. If you value options like audio test tones...

A decent first effort from Tosh, but lacking when compared to newer models from Sony
It looks good, is affordable, and does a good job of Blu-ray playback
Sketchy connectivity and old-school BD Live clunkiness let the team down

Toshiba is rightly proud of its flagship Blu-Ray player. The visual impact of the device is one of its key assets, as the front panel is completely covered by a flip-down plastic section through which you can see the basic information relating to run...

So Toshiba finally bites the Blu-ray bullet two years after its own HD format bit the dust. Such patience it seems is a virtue.

Easy setup and great picture!!
