Excellent low-light video quality and a broad set of manual controls make the HS700 a good camcorder, but its much better priced flash memory SD700 sibling is the one to have.

Very good low-light video quality ; Full set of manual features ; 1080/50p recording option

Smallish, low-resolution LCD ; Coarse EVF ; Some edge artifacts in video ; Middling still photo quality ; SD card only SD700 much better value

Unless you need enough capacity to record all-day sessions there's really no reason to opt for the overpriced hard-drive-based HS700; a hard drive full of video left in the camcorder is an accident waiting to happen. Especially since the SD700 is so...

There were times when we didn’t know if a photo was shot during video mode; Some lag experienced during menu browsing; Price may put off some

This is the top of range HD camcorder. Colours are very accurate. Frame rates are superb. The video quality is amazing! Very impressive 14MP still camera with built-in flash. Battery life is about 100 mins depending on full image quality which is just...

Performs very well under extreme conditions. Produces excellent picture quality, even in subdued lighting conditions. Have recorded two full gigs of approx 2 hours each with no problems encountered. Unlike my Canon HG10 which continually stops...

AGC cannot be turned off in IA mode Instruction manual is very basic, especially with regard to the advanced features

Out of this world Full HD. 11million + pixels for movie! (The deep black for example, is pretty much broadcast quality) Still Camera 14+ million Mic and Headphone Line in. Simple to Use. Side replacement of battery helpful, save messing about taking it...

If you use Final Cut Pro on an Apple, the Panasonic 1090i/50fps format needs to be converted. However get hold of Aunsofts Video Converter for Mac or their "iMedia Converter" Toast deals with this ok too.They convert AVHD with no loss of res etc to use...
