Xiaomi Mi 4 review: Dragons forever

Xiaomi is in no mood to slow down and the Mi 4 is ready to succeed one of the most popular Chinese smartphones, the Mi 3. Riding the new wave of made-in-China flagships, with the likes of Oppo, Meizu and Huawei, this one is a highly anticipated sequel...

5" IPS 1080p capacitive touchscreen of 441ppi ; Android 4.4.3 KitKat with MIUI v.5, upgradable to MIUI v.6 ; 2.5GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU; 3GB of RAM; Adreno 330 GPU; Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset ; 13MP camera, f/1.8 aperture, LED flash, 4K video...

No Gorilla Glass ; No microSD card slot ; No user-replaceable battery ; No NFC ; Sold exclusively online

Well made, good-looking proper flagships with all the trimmings coming from China should be no surprise by now. Least of all, the Xiaomi Mi 4. Probably the biggest surprise here is it took Xiaomi less than a year to bring out the next generation.

Xiaomi Mi 4 Review

The Xiaomi Mi 4 comes with a 5-inch 1080p, fully laminated display and top notch hardware: it runs on the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 system chip clocked at up to 2.5GHz, and comes with a plentiful 3GB of RAM. In terms of cameras, the Mi 4 boasts...

Very cheap for what it brings to the table, even through scalpers ; Exceptional construction ; Bright and vivid screen ; One of the most attractive and speedy custom Android skins available ; One of the great all-around camcorders in terms of quality...

Vignetting and blurring towards the edges of still photos ; Sound recording during video capture needs an immediate fix ; No support for LTE with the Mi4W model ; No microSD card slot

Originality might not be Xiaomi's strongest suite, but execution sure is. This much has been made perfectly clear through the Mi 4 – a device that doesn't score perfect on each and every test, but nevertheless has ensured itself enough leeway through...

Xiaomi Mi 4 review: how is this thing so damn cheap?

Andy takes a look at the Xiaomi Mi 4, a smartphone that only recently made its bow in South Africa.

: On paper, there isn’t another phone that comes close at this price. In practice, the Xiaomi Mi 4 falls short in many aspects, including battery life, user experience and storage solutions. But on the whole, for what you get, it’s a phone that you...

Xiaomi Mi4 review: Full In-Depth Hands-On

The Xiaomi Mi4 is the latest flagship smartphone from the very popular Xiaomi series of smartphones. The phone is already out in the market and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.com starting from February 10th. Carrying the revolutionary genes...

One of the challenges of getting this device is the previous Xiaomi sales record so you might have to wait for quite some time to get a set of our own. Apart from that, the Xiaomi Mi4 will be competing head on with the One Plus One which offers similar...

Xiaomi Mi 4 Review

Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacturer entered the Indian market with its Mi 3 smartphone and the smartphone turned out to be a huge success in the country. The unbelievable price tag it carried helped the device sell like hot cakes.

Xiaomi Mi 4 is already available in the market for a price tag of INR 19,999 for the 16GB variant. The build quality of the device is great and the stainless steel frame adds elegance. While we liked the polycarbonate design from the Mi 3, the rich...

Xiaomi Mi 4 review – a very solid offering

Xiaomi is hoping to make its presence felt on a global scale with its latest flagship. What does it have to offer? We find out in this Xiaomi Mi 4 review!

Great design with a metal frame ; Flagship specifications ; Vibrant display ; MIUI is an unique take on Android ; Better than average battery life ; High resolution front-facing camera

Mobile networking can be spotty with HSDPA version ; Unremarkable overall camera experience ; MIUI is not for everyone

The Mi 4 isn’t widely available just yet, but if you do want this phone right now, the currency exchange will make it about $350. That is definitely a great price for a device that has a lot to offer, which is the best way to describe this Xiaomi Mi 4....

Xiaomi Mi4 review: China’s iPhone killer is unoriginal but amazing

A big iPhone that runs Android ends up being the best of both worlds.

Impeccable build quality. One of the most premium feeling Android phones out there ; The gorgeous 1080p screen with excellent viewing angles ; The price. Even after the importer's 50 percent markup, it's still a good deal ; MIUI is extremely quick and...

Unoriginal design. Everything looks like something else, usually something from Apple ; The Micro USB-A/B port is seriously weird and makes plugging the device in difficult ; A horizontal strip of four icons is not an acceptable Recent Apps screen ;...

This review was not supposed to go this way. When we decided to order the Mi4, we wanted to learn more about Android in China, but we also expected it to be kind of a laugh. It's easy to look at the pictures and dismiss the Mi4 as a cheap iPhone...

Xiaomi Mi4 review: excellent hardware for a fair price

Xiaomi is a company built on quality and high standards, and the hardware of the new Mi4 shows just that, but the software situation could be better.

Excellent hardware and build quality ; Extra slim bezels and a gorgeous display ; Great battery life and performance ; Very flexible software

Limited LTE band support ; Constant freezes and hangs from the software ; No built-in Google Play services

So what do we make of all this? Frankly, the Xiaomi Mi4 is an impressive handset, especially for the price. Of course, once it officially launches in other countries, the phone will become more affordable for those outside China. But right now, even...

Xiaomi Mi4 review: Xiaomi's best yet

The Mi4 is a beautiful smartphone in its own right.

Well designed ; One of the most attractive Android overlays ; Great 8MP front camera ; IR Blaster

No 4G ; No expandable memory ; Not ideal for heavy gaming ; No NFC

Xiaomi Mi4

It's better than a mere iPhone imitation, but is it worth importing?

Smart design ; Outstanding value ; Very fast

No 4G on this version ; No microSD slot ; Import challenges

While NFC is still clearly in its infancy, it could well take off in 2015 — especially now that Apple has put it into the iPhone 6. Not having NFC could be a real drawback for Mi4 owners moving forwards.
