Small metal body ; Easy to use ; Some manual controls
Bundled software not OS X native ; Red-eye and noise in images ; Slow image-write speeds ; No AF illuminator

The FineCam S5 would work well for people who want high-resolution photos for a low price; but other, cheaper cameras have better designs and include more shot-crafting options.

Kyocera Finecam S5
Compact, stylish design; great battery life; high resolution.
Lengthy power-up and shot-to-shot lag times; somewhat unpredictable white balance; middling image quality.
The S5 is a great-looking, highly portable point-and-shoot model that needs to be a little cheaper and a lot faster.

Although the Kyocera name is not a household word for most consumers (it's actually best known for its semiconductor development), both serious amateur and professional photographers will immediately recognize the names Contax, Yashica, and Carl Zeiss....
Compact size, Solid build, In-camera image stabilization makes all lenses better for low light shooting, Same sensor as 7D, Kit lens covers 18-70mm 35mm equivalent range, Very good to excellent low-light capability, Excellent battery life, Decent...
Proprietary hot shoe, No PC sync port, No video recording (a fact of life with SLRs), Hand grip may be uncomfortably small for some users, Image noise slightly high at ISO 1600, RAW+JPEG option only saves fine-mode JPEGs. (But that's not a bad...
Kyocera has now expanded their line with the Finecam S5, a five-megapixel update to the previous four-megapixel S4 model (billed as the "world's smallest four-megapixel camera with 3x zoom" by Kyocera). The S5 is likewise quite small, and features the...

Is the Finecam S5 another quality camera from Kyocera? How does it fare against the competition? Find out now..
Very small, metal body ; Easy to use ; Nice movie, playback mode ; Good number of manual controls for a point-and-shoot camera
Higher than average noise in images ; Shutter speed, aperture controls too limited ; Pop-up flash gets in the way ; No AF illuminator ; Redeye a problem ; Poor bundle ; Write speed to SD card seems unusually slow
The Kyocera Finecam S5 is a decent camera, but definitely not the best in its class. It offers a good amount of features, including a few (limited) manual controls. It has a small, easy to carry metal body. And it has good movie and playback modes....
