Leica Q In-depth Review

The Leica Q's melding of manual control with electronic assistance and combination of fixed-28mm F1.7 lens and 24MP full-frame sensor make for a responsive package capable of excellent photographs. But despite its $4250 asking price, we found a few...

As mentioned in the introduction, there is a combination of classic and modern that is central to the 'personality' of the Leica Q. However, the Q offers a number of other combinations that you might not expect. There's the combination of well-thought...

Leica Q (Typ 116)

The Leica Q (Typ 116) is a niche camera, with a full-frame image sensor and a dedicated 28mm lens. It's not for every photographer, but it's fantastic at what it does.

Full-frame image sensor. Sharp, wide aperture lens. 6.7-inch macro mode. Fast autofocus. Large, crisp EVF. Touch-screen display. 1/16,000-sec electronic shutter. 10fps burst shooting. 1080p60 video recording. Includes Adobe Photoshop Lightroom....

Expensive. No built-in flash. Touch screen focus could be better implemented. Lacks 24fps video option.

Conclusions I've heard more than a few people ask the same question about the Q: Can it be my only camera? Given its cost, that's not an unreasonable query. I'm going to say yes, it can, but probably not if you're asking that question. Photographers...

Leica Q review: This camera has everything you expect from a Leica, from sharp photos to a high price

Leica's fab new full-frame, fixed-lens camera is its most mainstream to date, excluding the Leica-branded Panasonics. It's still Leica-expensive, though.

The Leica Q produces great photos and videos, sports a stellar lens and a delivers surprisingly good performance.

There's a lot of moire to clean up in the photos and a real grip would be nice for the money.

A terrific, if expensive, full-frame compact, the Leica Q is worth every penny for landscape and street photographers.

Leica Q

At $4,250 I'll never own one, but this full-frame, fixed-lens "compact" incorporates all of Leica's traditional quality and aesthetics without forgoing the modern features many of us lower-level beings want, like autofocus, optical image stabilization,...

Camera Review: Leica Q

The Leica Q delivers a full-frame sensor and 10-fps burst shooting in one elegantly compact package.

Super fast; gorgeous image quality; good low-light performance; responsive AF; Wi-Fi; touchscreen display; sharp EVF

Limited video features; pricey; lens cap can inadvertently rotate aperture dial

There’s no question that the Q is an amazing camera. It’s fast, responsive, impeccably constructed and takes beautiful images. What’s more, it’s fun to use.

Hands-on with the Leica Q: Leica's first fixed-lens, full-frame digital compact

Whichever camp you're in, there's a new Leica in town for you to either lust after or rail against. The Leica Q is a new kind of Leica, a relatively compact, fixed-lens full-frame digital camera with an electronic viewfinder.

Leica Q (Typ 116)

The Leica Q (Typ 116) is just what we've been waiting for – a new Leica camera that isn't simply a re-brand of another model, and one that isn't ridiculously overpriced.

Fantastic handling and control ; Excellent image quality ; High-quality lens

Price pushes it into a niche ; Video capabilities could be better
