Sony Cyber-shot RX10 review: impeccable performance and versatility make this cam an industry leader

To many photographers -- amateurs and professionals alike -- digital SLRs represent quality. The fact that you can remove the lens and swap it for anothe

Constant f/2.8-aperture 24-200mm lens ; Phenomenal image and video quality ; Excellent performance and battery life ; Dedicated exposure-compensation dial ; WiFi with NFC

Sony's RX10 may be expensive, but this camera's a no-brainer if you have the $1,300 to spare.

It looks like a DLSR—and costs about as much as one—but the DSC-RX10 has a built-in lens.

Solid feel magnesium alloy build apes a semi pro DSLR ; Tilting LCD and eye level viewfinder ; Image quality a knock out for photos and video

Big, permanently-attached lens = a bulky camera ; Priced as much as some DSLRs

Though the DSC-RX10 is not an inexpensive camera, when you add up what a semi-pro DSLR body and a similar zoom would cost, investing in the RX10 actually makes for a sound investment.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 is a bridge-style camera that gets just about everything right, and its steep asking price reflects its impeccable quality.

Impressively sharp 24-200mm f/2.8 lens. Big 1-inch image sensor. 10fps burst shooting. Speedy focus. 1080p60 video capture. Excellent customizable control layout. Sharp EVF. Tilting rear LCD. Multi Interface hot shoe. Integrated Wi-Fi with NFC.

Bulky. Expensive. External battery charger not included.

Remote control via your handheld device is also supported via the PlayMemories app. A Live View feed streams to its screen, and you can adjust the focal length of the lens, set the self-timer, adjust the flash output, and fire the shutter. There's no...
