DJI Phantom 3 Standard

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard delivers the safety, reliability, and video quality you expect from a Phantom at a price that appeals to entry-level pilots.

Very stable in the air. Easy to fly. Smooth 2.7K video capture. 20mm wide-angle lens. Raw and JPG still capture. Relatively affordable. Built-in GPS. Return-to-home function. Automated takeoff and landing.

Propellers intrude into footage. Battery requires more than an hour to recharge. Requires Android or iOS device.

Conclusions You're not going to find a better drone for $500 than the Phantom 3 Standard. It delivers the stability, reliability, and safety features that you expect from a Phantom, and all of the same automated flight modes as its more expensive...

DJI Phantom 3 4K

The Phantom 3 4K captures stable ultra high-definition video from the air and includes all of the safety features you expect from a DJI drone.

Very stable in the air. Easy to fly. Smooth 4K video capture. 20mm wide-angle lens. Raw and JPG still capture. 22-minute flight time. Built-in GPS. Return-to-home function. Automated takeoff and landing. Attractive price.

Limited operating range. Propellers intrude into footage. Battery requires more than an hour to recharge. Requires Android or iOS device.

Conclusions The DJI Phantom 3 4K is the least expensive option for potential drone buyers who want to take advantage of the resolution benefits delivered by the 4K format, but don't want to break the bank. It offers the benefits you get from a Phantom,...

DJI Phantom 3 Standard review: A great entry-level drone if the price is right

The Standard is easy to recommend as an entry-level camera drone, and it's also an outstanding deal at its current $499 (£449 and AU$859) price.

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard is a ready-to-fly quadcopter with a built-in camera that captures good 2.7K-resolution video that's very stable thanks to an excellent integrated three-axis gimbal. It has the Intelligent Flight Modes found on the company's...

The camera can't be removed or upgraded; landing gear doesn't collapse and isn't easily removed for travel.

For its $499 sale price, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard is the best beginner quadcopter you're going to find for the money. If and when the price jumps back to its original $799, the Standard will be a much tougher sell against DJI's other excellent models...

DJI Phantom 3 Professional review: A simple drone that shoots gorgeous 4K video

With 4K video and easy to learn controls, the DJI Phantom 3 Professional makes a good case for being the go-to drone for serious aerial photographers.

The DJI Phantom 3 Professional is easy to set up, simple to fly and its stabilised camera shoots beautiful 4K footage.

The Phantom 3 Pro isn't cheap, and it's hard to distinguish 4K footage from 1080p. Buying spare batteries, which each manage only 20 minutes of flight time, adds even more cost.

With its simple operation and great image quality, the DJI Phantom 3 Professional is one of the best ways to get into aerial videography.

DJI Phantom 3 review: the best drone you can buy just got even better

I spent some time at a drone conference hosted by NASA last week and it's increasingly clear that in short order there will be tens of thousands of companies flying drones just in the US. Everyone from real estate and insurance agents to traffic cops...

A generation of people were lucky enough to learn on the very first personal computers and got to shape the world we all live today. I’m really starting to feel drones are the same kind of thing: a little taste of the future for anyone who’s willing to...

DJI Phantom 3 Standard Review

A great choice for getting into the aerial footage game on a budget

Inexpensive (especially when on sale), good image quality and stability

Controller not as nice as other Phantoms, video quality slightly inferior to higher end models

The Phantom 3 Standard can't quite match the more expensive drones in terms of performance, but it can still produce good footage that will up the quality of any filmmaking venture. It is a great choice for the aspiring videographer on a budget.

DJI Phantom 3 Standard Review

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard remains the camera drone to beat, and nothing we have tested so far comes close. It flies well, producing generally rock-solid video with excellent color and lots of detail. The $979 Professional and $1,300 Advanced models...

Excellent video and still image quality ; Easy-to-use DJI Go app ; App or conventional report options

Occasionally catches sight of itself on video ; Some video glitches ; Battery charging is slow

Both novice and experienced pilots will love the amount of control the DJI Phantom 3 Standard offers, and the high-quality video it captures.

DJI Phantom 3 Review: Stunning Video + Easier Controls = Hell Yes

DJI's Phantom 2 Vision+ really upped the ante for a consumer-friendly all-in-one aerial photography drone. It shot solid 1080p video, and its built-in stabilized camera kept the shot super smooth. Well, the Phantom 3 is here—and while it isn't perfect,...

DJI Phantom 3 Standard review

DJI's new quadcopter makes high quality aerial footage both accessible and affordable

Value for money ; Great for those just starting out ; Simple design and operation ; Easy to fly

Uses Wi-Fi rather than Lightbridge ; Lacks the positioning cameras of the Advanced and Pro

If you were thinking about getting the Phantom 3 Pro or Advanced but were put off by the price, then the Phantom 3 Standard should make your mind up once and for all! It's affordable, easy to fly and has a good camera.
