DJI Spark review

Tons of intelligent flight modes ; Obstacle avoidance ; Two-axis gimbal stabilization ; Ultracompact form factor ; Excellent flight performance

No 4K camera ; Average flight time

The Spark is easily one of the best portable drones available right now. Despite the fact that it can’t shoot 4K video like some of its competitors, it outshines the competition in just about every other regard. It’s faster, smarter, can fly for longer...

DJI Spark review: A tiny drone that waves goodbye to the competition

Gesture controls let you fly the palm-size drone without a controller, but that's just one of several features that make it a selfie-taking standout.

The DJI Spark delivers a tiny, lightweight design; excellent mechanically stabilized camera; USB charging and advanced features like gesture controls and obstacle detection. It travels well and is great for aerial photos and video.

Flight time can be as short as 10 to 14 minutes. The app can be frustrating to use, especially on smaller screens. And you should expect to buy batteries and possibly the optional controller.

The DJI Spark delivers all of the camera drone features most people will ever need in an impossibly small package.

DJI Spark review: a little bit of magic in the palm of your hand

By learning to compromise, DJI has delivered its most accessible drone yet

Small and lightweight ; Great gesture control ; Lots of powerful autonomous features

Limited battery life and range ; Spotty connectivity over Wi-Fi

The ideal drone depends on what you’re after, and I would describe the Spark as the best starter drone on the market right now. It’s easy to carry around, simple to control, and safe to fly indoors and out, while retaining just enough oomph to capture...

DJI Spark

The DJI Spark is a $500 palm-size gesture-controlled selfie drone for the masses, but it's hampered by short flying time and an app that could be easier to use.

Small. Supports gesture controls. Smartphone-controlled flight. Automated shots. Subject tracking. Forward obstacle avoidance. GPS stabilization. Safety features, including return-to-home.

Battery nets about 12 minutes of flight time. Limited range and speed when controlling with phone. Video limited to 1080p. No support for 24fps or high frame rate capture. App and video editing features could be easier to use. Dedicated remote control...

The DJI Spark delivers one of the best technological parlor tricks I've ever seen. Launching out of your hand and controlling a drone with a wave of your hand is a lot of fun. But when you dive deeper, some issues become apparent. The Spark is meant to...

DJI Spark Review

The DJI Spark is the smallest member of DJI's drone family, and it takes the littlest sibling role to heart. This little firefly buzzes around with enough...

The is the most fun and most capable small drone we've tested. If you're new to drones and just want something that can take photos, some basic video, and is fun to fly, the is perfect. The is comparably portable but much more expensive and has a...

DJI Spark In-Depth Review

I'm always on the lookout for a better way to capture cool footage while out running, cycling, swimming, hiking, or doing whatever the heck it is I'm doing. Be that a better GoPro or a better way to get a unique shot, there's always room for...

DJI Spark Review: Great Video, But Gesture Controls Need Work

DJI is not some fly-by-night drone maker, and the Spark is yet another great flier in the company's hangar. However, the Spark is not going to inspire some revolution in drone-based photography by the masses. While small and easy to fly, it's not cheap...

Small and portable ; Easy to fly ; Stable, clear video ; Autonomous flight modes

Still expensive for most ; Gesture controls not always recognized ; No 4K video

While pricey, the DJI Spark is the company’s smallest and least expensive drone, and can be controlled using nothing but your hand.

The DJI Spark is fun, but not the mainstream drone we were promised

The Spark is, at once, an impressive feat of engineering and a reminder that drones are a ways from being true mainstream devices. It's DJI's smallest and cheapest drone by far, and the company also has tossed in some neat gesture control tricks that...

Truly mastering the drone takes more than a couple of days of testing, of course. But that brings into sharp relief the fact that the Spark isn’t really the beginner’s product it might have seemed at first. The simple fact of the matter, though, is...

DJI Spark review: You could fly it with your eyes closed

DJI Spark is the smallest drone in this Chinese company's catalog. With a little over a decade of experience, it has launched a drone that absolutely anyone can use. The Spark may just be the easiest drone to fly, and the most versatile the market has...

Lightweight ; Easy to control ; Very stable ; Gesture control ; Follow mode ; Phone-less selfies ; Avoid obstacles ; Solid build

Limited smartphone control ; Expensive remote ; Expensive drone ; Video up to 1080p 30fps ; Battery life ; Noisy

The DJI Spark is a useful drone, easy to transport and with enormous versatility thanks to its control. It’s a great drone to get you started in the world of piloting or for video-enthusiasts. Its main cons are price and battery life, but I truly...

The DJI Spark Is an Incredibly Exciting Start to an Insane Future

Small drones are not new. Toy-sized quadcopters have been on the market for years helping kids (and dads) start flying for a relatively reasonable price and not much expertise. Yet small drones that can do almost anything a big drone can do? That's...

It's super fun, especially for the price.
