AKG Q701 HEADPHONES

The AKG Q701 are great, comfortable headphones for critical listening. They are the Quincey Jones Signature line equivalent of the AKG K7-series, but with the detachable cable of the or . They are open backs, meaning they don't block noise by design,...

Great audio reproduction. ; Comfortable design.

Poor isolation by design. ; Big and bulky headphones.

AKG Q701 Open-back Over-ear Headphone Review

It feels weird to have a celebrity-endorsed set of cans take our 10, but the Q701s did it.

If you've got the juice to power these headphones, you'll lose yourself in easily one of the best headphones we've tested. While most celebrity-endorsed headphones typically get slaughtered in our ratings with poor audio performance to price, the AKG...

AKG Q701

In the Q701s, AKG has produced a truly excellent pair of Quincy Jones-endorsed headphones.

Excellent built quality ; Great sound ; Comfortable fit

Fairly expensive ; Many equally good rivals

The AKG Q701s are a truly excellent pair of headphones, with which Quincy Jones can be proud to be associated. Their wide, flat and accurate sound puts them in a great position in competition with similarly priced headphones from Sennheiser, Beyer...

AKG Q701 review

A top-class newcomer from AKG that's been developed with music legend Quincy Jones and it shows

Simply gorgeous sound ; Very close to our Sennheiser favourites but half the price

Very minor upper-bass hardness

AKG Q701

This is a solid, great sounding set of cans. Fine value, too

Genuinely musical presentation; good for all types of music; well engineered

Not the snuggest fit on your head

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Great sound, can be uncomfortable

If you research these, they are basically the same as the K701 and K702 (one reviewer performs tests showing nearly identical response curves). I liked the option of having the detachable cables in two different lengths.

These sound great and compare favorably with my Sennheiser HD650s. They have a little more "sparkle" than the Sennheisers and are very clean and detailed. I'm using them with a Matrix M-State headphone amp which will drive them to ear damaging levels...

The earpads are quite comfortable, and the overall fit is good, but the headband is pretty stiff and has bumps on it that dig into my head. I can actually feel corresponding bumps in my skin after a listening session. It's not painful and not very...

Gamer turned Audiophile

I mostly listen to melodeath (in flames-style stuff) but dabble in everything (hence audiophile). These do everything well except maybe dubstep/rap. Some people like punchy bass in rock/metal.. not me. I got these from headroom, but they didn't have a...

Comfortable - the only more comfortable cans I've owned were siberias back when icemat was making them (pre steel-series) ; Bright - Not for everyone, but these really shine in mid to high ranges. The bass is there; its rich and clean, doesn't mud the...

Price. While these are awesome, there are cans out there far cheaper that are ALMOST as good. I'm looking at you, grado. These have a similar sound, a bit more balanced. If you like the SR60i/80i/120is you won't be disappointed until you compare the...

great value for bass-light classical/acoustic dragon slayer

Q701 is not really a headphone that merits a long review. It was my entree into the high-fi world, and a good entree at that. If you listen primarily to classical/jazz/acoustic music and/or are using the headphone for mixing purposes, it is a...

good soundstage and tone, punches above weight, fairly light

rattle in right driver, schiit headband

Grown to love the sound

Bought from Memory Express in Canada for about $220 CAD. Don't overpay, these can be found for around $250 if you search around. Sound impressions: Measured with a UMIK1 and the response is very linear with a smooth increase up to 1khz then a smooth...

Linear audio, can reach down to 10hz, amazing spatialization

Headband can be uncomfortable, requires good amplification

Detailed and amazing soundstage

overall this is a good headphone, and i love it very much.lucky for me i got the Austria version, as i happen to know they are now manufactured at china the sound is just what i am looking for in most of the headphones, where i prefer a more emphasized...

good sounstage, nice clean bass and very engaging mids

headband bump, sometimes upper mid might be too bright for some songs
