HP's 13-inch Spectre x360 2-in-1 ain't perfect -- but it's getting close

The updated Spectre x360 13-inch convertible laptop adds terrific battery life and top-notch performance to its class-leading design.

Beautifully designed and lightweight, the HP Spectre x360 13 has a great keyboard and trackpad, a sharp HD display and an above-average sound system. Battery life with this display is great, and its performance is top notch.

The system runs a little hot and the newly added fingerprint sensor is in an awkward location.

The HP Spectre x360 13 remains a great little convertible laptop, and now it's faster with great battery life.

HP Spectre x360 13 (2017)

With a stylish look, a super-slim build, a gorgeous 4K display, and serious speed, the latest version of the already-great HP Spectre x360 is our favorite high-end convertible laptop.

Fast performance. Slick, modern design. Slim build. 4K display with sharp image quality. USB-C with Thunderbolt 3 plus USB 3.0 ports.

Battery life is only average on the 4K model. Requires USB-C adapters for video out.

Bottom Line: With a stylish look, a super-slim build, a gorgeous 4K display, and serious speed, the latest version of the already-great HP Spectre x360 is our favorite high-end convertible laptop.

Review: The 13-inch Spectre x360 is HP's tiny titan of a 2-in-1

The company adds a 4K display to its 13-inch Spectre x360 and only battery life suffers.

Beautifully designed and less than 3 pounds (1.4 kg), the HP Spectre x360 13 has a great keyboard and trackpad, a sharp 4K display and an above-average sound system. Battery life is decent for such a power-sucking screen, and performance fits right in...

Battery life takes a hit with the 4K display compared to high definition. The system runs a little hot.

The HP Spectre x360 13 is a great little laptop, but if battery life matters to you a lot, opt for the HD display, not the more expensive 4K.

HP Spectre x360 (2017) review: The best just keeps getting better

The addition of active pen support and the option of a 4K UHD screen cements this convertible's status as our favorite.

Compact and lightweight ; Cutting-edge hardware ; Active pen support ; Option of 4K screen

Notably lower battery life on 4K model ; Slight decrease in system performance at 4K resolution

HP Spectre x360 (2017) review The best just keeps getting better

The only thing keeping the Spectre x360 from rising even further above its peers is the small price you pay for these upgrades—partially in cold, hard cash, partially in performance. But even without changing its position in the pack, this notebook is...

Compact and lightweight

Notably lower battery life on 4K model

We’re still on the fence about whether the Spectre x360 is the best ultrabook laptop, but it undoubtedly still crushes the other convertibles out there. HP has thoughtfully curated bleeding-edge technology into a single machine that has tremendous value.

HP Spectre x360 13 2019 review: This laptop gets stupidly good battery life

Our favorite convertible laptop gets a beautiful new look, Intel's Whiskey Lake CPU and downright amazing battery life

Stupidly good battery life ; It has USB Type A. It has USB Type A. It has USB Type A. (no this isn't a typo).

Performance mode needs further optimization ; Trackpad still too wide and too far to the right

In the end, it’s hard not gush about the overachieving HP Spectre x360 13. It's essentially everything we loved about about the previous Spectre x360 13, at a surprisingly reasonable price.

HP Spectre x360 13 (7500U, 4K UHD) Convertible Review

Spectre spectacle. HP introduced the redesigned Spectre x360 FHD last November with the promise of a 4K UHD version in early 2017. The manufacturer has finally delivered with the Spectre x360 13-ac033dx, though the 4K SKU will cost a hefty $1600 USD.

near 100 percent sRGB coverage; very accurate colors and grayscale out of the box ; true 4K UHD; beautiful display with high contrast ; Active Pen stylus included with each purchase ; light and portable for practical tablet mode ; USB 3.0 Type-A + 2x...

very limited Turbo Boost performance; i7-7500U multi-thread underperforms just slightly ; sensitive system fans; loud fans during medium-high loads ; larger footprint than XPS 13; lid is slightly more flexible ; backlight brightness could be brighter...

HP has made its Spectre x360 13 even better by incorporating 4K UHD and active pen support for a superior tablet experience. This is still the same lightweight and easy-to-handle 2-in-1 that made the 2016 model stand out as one of the most practical...

HP Spectre x360 13 (2017) Review

When buying a new computer these days, there are a lot to choose from. Do you want a traditional clamshell laptop or would you rather have one that can fold over and has a touchscreen and can be used as a tablet. HP seems to realize this and they're...

HP has done a great job with the Spectre x360 13, it looks and feels like a premium laptop and can be compared to the likes of Apple’s offerings. If it wasn’t for a few minor issues, then the Spectre x360 13 would be the best Windows 2-in-1 around....

HP Spectre x360 review

This flagship 2-in-1 laptop gets the job done

Stylus included ; Stunning speakers ; Beautiful display ; Day-long battery life

Weak hinges ; Annoying keyboard layout

Even with less battery life than promised, there’s not a lot to hate about the new Spectre x360. In fact, with a stylus in the box, excellent speakers and a gorgeous touchscreen, there’s a lot to love here.
