Lenovo Legion Y520 Tower

Affordable, compact, and upgradeable, the Lenovo Legion Y520 Tower is a solid desktop for HD gaming on a budget, even if its performance is limited.

Reasonably priced. Compact. Upgradeable. Delivers 60fps HD gaming.

Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM hamper performance.

Bottom Line: Affordable, compact, and upgradeable, the Lenovo Legion Y520 Tower is a solid desktop for HD gaming on a budget, even if its performance is limited.

Lenovo Legion Y520

The Lenovo Legion Y520 is a budget gaming laptop that requires you to make no compromises in build quality or performance. It delivers smooth 1080p gaming at high settings alongside a full feature set.

Proficient gaming performance. Spacious hard drive plus boot SSD. Restrained, but stylish design. Well-built keyboard.

Tacky touchpad design. Red accent coloring might not be to everyone's taste.

Lenovo's rebranded gaming effort is a success in my book, even if that ultimately boils down to a new name, aesthetic tweaks, and good timing with incorporating the latest hardware. The Legion Y520 is well designed, with a full feature set, and...

Lenovo Legion Y520 Review

The Lenovo Legion Y520 offers strong performance for its price and a sleek design. But its screen is dull, and its touchpad places form over function.

Sleek design; Comfortable keyboard; Strong gaming and productivity performance; Useful software

Dull display; Oddly shaped touchpad

Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBA (i5-7300HQ, RX 560) Laptop Review

Budget Gaming. Lenovo's budget-priced gaming notebooks start at €700 (~$817). While these basic variants are not that powerful, they should still be enough for some gamers. In this review, we will be looking at the Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBA, a...

solid CPU and GPU performance ; good input devices ; affordable price ; good maintenance options ; decent design

average colour space accuracy ; mediocre brightness and contrast ; slow HDD

The Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBA is a viable gaming notebook that is useful outside of just playing games. At just over €700 (~$817), the device is a good choice for those on a tight budget. The Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBA is a gaming notebook that is...

Lenovo Legion Y520 Tower Review: Upgrade-Friendly Gaming Value

The Lenovo Legion Y520 is a simple pre-built machine for midlevel gaming, and when configured correctly, it can handle VR. It has plenty of room for upgrading, and, thankfully, Lenovo didn't weight this machine down with bloatware.

Lots of room to upgrade ; Light on bloatware

Slow transfer speeds

The Lenovo Legion Y520 is a pre-built midlevel gaming PC with plenty of room for upgrading.

Lenovo Legion Y520-15 Gaming Laptop

Lenovo perhaps isn't the first name which comes to mind when considering gaming laptops. But the company is seeking its own path, and a mix of bang for buck and design attention may help in revealing it. The Legion Y520-15 is one of its current...

We like the look of the Legion Y520-15. Physically, rather than on paper and in practice, because we don’t believe that the selection of parts delivers an overall experience best for gaming.

Lenovo Legion Y520 Review and Ratings

Lenovo's midsize gaming laptop is largely a winner, with good power for 1080p play, an IPS screen, and speedy storage at an aggressive price. The $849 base model, though, may be a better value than the decked-out config we tested.

Base configuration offers IPS display, GTX 1050 Ti for under a grand ; Snappy-feeling keyboard ; Decent speakers ; Test unit had PCI Express SSD, 2TB hard drive

Not factory-customizable ; Display lacks Nvidia G-Sync support ; Smudgy touch-pad rim ; Unusual number-pad layout ; Aggressive fans

As far as budget gaming notebooks go, we think Lenovo has a winner on its hands with the Legion Y520. Here we finally have a 15.6-incher that offers both a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card and an IPS display for comfortably under the four-figure mark....
