In all when i watch movies i just plug speakers and im fine. The product is light for what it can handle or maybe the fact that my other laptop is a beast. In all I highly recommend it to others, but look for deals around because I got mine for 1150....
Processor is nice and fast with good ram to back it up. The graphics card is kind of behinf of the current models but it is still good. Though i bought this for school it isnt bad for gaming either. The keys are niceand stiff and spread apart which i...
One con that i noticed is that the speakers on the laptop sucks. They dont go that high and is not the best quality type speakers for something that is used to watch hi-def movies. The standard battery is very weak and wont last that long 2 hours max....

Referring to a previous comment, this laptop does support the T9550 and T9800, as it is an option when customizing on Sony's website.
1920x1080
Newegg version doesn't come with extra capacity battery or the higher end CPU

Sony finally has listened to their customers. This design is rock solid. So I hope it is not like my 6 year old Vaio I am using to type this. Even though this machine is 6 years old I have had it fixed 2 times. Sony seems to be week in the optical part...
Faster than my Mac Book Pro with the same processor. Plus it has BD. Not as flimsy feeling as the Mac. So much faster on the internet than the Mac it is like the mac is on 56k modem connection instead of a T1
USB ports close and need more. Options for consumer to use 32 bit OS on it

Keyboard buttons are spread a bit further apart then I'm used to. This shouldn't be a con, just something to point out.
The HD screen is phenomenal. However, the screen isn't the only reason why this laptop is a great buy
Only minor things that shouldn't make or break the decision

This my first personal laptop in over 12 years. the last one had 4MB RAM, 60MB HD, 640x480x16 greyscale screen, so this is an altogether different experience. :) This laptop blows my work laptop out of the water in terms of features and performance.
This laptop is an excellent value for the money. Beautiful screen, excellent resolution. Performs very well on games and such. Dedicated video card is nice. Keyboard is very comfortable to type on for extended periods and has very good touch and feedback
Gets very hot when playing games, but with almost any other activity heat is not an issue. Wish it had a glass surface protecting the screen. Speakers are very anemic as others have said. If you plan on watching movies or playing games and like your...

I realized coming from 1680x1050 screen, the 300 pixels difference horizontally is not really noticeable. I mean, it's not like going from 1024x768 to 1680x1050 (which was quite a leap, if I remember correctly).
I have to agree that the screen is really beautiful - even though I was never a fan of a glossy screen
It makes you want to play - not work ; )

You'll need to delete some of the bloat wares and disable unneeded services to get the quick boot up. Otherwise, it'll take close to a min to start up. Gonna try to add a 4GB USB flash drive to see if ReadyBoost will help speed things up.
Bought this to replace a broken down Toshiba A75 laptop. Anyone who owned that model knew it was a piece of junk (noisy fan, poorly designed A/C adapter jack that broke, etc) Anyway, this Sony model is superior in all aspects. Solid construction, well...
Would have liked the USB ports be placed in the back of the laptop. Minor gripe though

Very clear and bright screen. Very nice sound. Kids loved to watch movies. Fantastic design. Easy and use friendly sleep mode
USBs are too close to each other. Battery life is too short (2-3 hours). Relatively noisy

I think this is a great notebook for money which is something rarely said about a Sony. 1080P Screen + blu-ray is phenomenal. Very speedy machine and surprisingly light for its form factor. The shell itself feels like plastic although a very sturdy...
The 1080P screen is absolutely amazing. One of the most gorgeous notebook screens I have ever used. System configuration handles Fallout 3, C& ; C: Red Alert, and End War without a problem. Very fast processor, enough ram to satisfy Vista. 320GB...
HDMI out is not what I thought it would be. Videos seem to be grainy and washed out. I can not find a fix for this. Outputting to a 32" Sharp Aquos set. Have tried videos of varying resolutions and quality, all with the same result. No back lit...

It was this or a macbook pro... this won out, a heck of a lot less money and better display. It seems to be a good choice right now, I hope I don't regret it down the road.
Display is definitely the strong point of this laptop, so nice that friends like it better than the display on their laptop. It has handled everything I have thrown at it... mostly, from a heavy, photoshop perspective. This is a laptop that could...
There seems to be some concern on some of the forum that the left barrel end is not attached as well as it should be.... seems to wiggle a little bit with some pressure applied but I'm not concerned. Battery life could be better. One other person...
