Supports several file formats. Can catalog videos from different devices.
Expensive. No Wi-Fi. No Netflix, Hulu, or other common online streaming services.
If you have a lot of media stores in your home network's devices, the Netgear NeoTV NTV550 can bring those files to your HDTV, but a too-high price, and a lack of features spoil the deal.

A media streamer that can do it all
Easy to set up and use ; Huge file support ; Great remote ; Cover art is useful ; Good value for money
Lack of internet apps ; Looks bland ; No built-in Wi-Fi ; No HDMI cable
Despite the ongoing march of Blu-ray into homes across the country, there's been no let-up in the number of media devices that enable you to get all the media you've collated on your PC – whether movies, music files or photos – and access them on your...

Hugely flexible, loads of connections, extensive format support
No streaming services to speak of, quite hard to live with
Decent enough if you know what you’re doing, but no easy ride

Netgear is an established brand when it comes to networking solutions. They've been exploring into other avenues out of which, HD media player is one. This is a product segment that's been mostly dominated by large data storage solution companies and...
We were thoroughly impressed by the Netgear NeoTV 550. It's a solid player that handles media very well. The very elegantly designed interface is also a thing to look at. Netgear has priced the NeoTV 550 at Rs.14,649, which is a lot of money.

The NeoTV 550 offers good connectivity options but no storage
Good connectivity and file format support
Expensive considering there’s no built-in storage
The NeoTV is also pretty expensive for a device that doesn’t have a built-in hard disk – in fact, it even makes the Apple TV look cheap.

i needed a simple bluray iso player, nothing else. and thats exactly what i got.
plays any media i throw at it. plays bluray iso flawlessly, which is why i bought it. remote is well layed out
no port multiplier on the eSATA port. it hangs every now and then, resetting takes less then a min, so no biggie
Consumer review (pcnation.com)
The best media player I have tested so far. In fact, the NEO 550 is the only media player I am recommending. I would definitely NOT get the WD Media Player (HDMI does not seem to work, does not play VIDEO_TS in order, very slow response), PopBox (HDMI...
Very fast boot up time, quick network discovery of file servers, just 2 clicks to get to my movies, plays every media format in my library (MKV, WMV, AVI, blu-ray, VIDEO_TS, ..., ISO), language / subtitle selection, fast scrolling through media list,...
YouTube app does not seem to list all public folders
Consumer review (tigerdirect.com)
The Netgear 550 is a solid device offering all the features one could ask for in a network media player except for built in Wireless access. The reason it's going back is that it only has a 100 mb Ethernet port and that just doesn't cut it when it...

None, doesn't read my movie files on my Seagate FreeAgent external hard drive.
Completely useless, doesn't read my movie files on my Seagate FreeAgent external hard drive. Numerous troubleshooting methods tried. Sending back.
