With its superb image quality, easy setup options, and comparable affordability, we think the Sony VPL-HW45ES is the best projector for dedicated home theaters.
The Sony VPL-HW45ES offers the best mix of picture quality, light output, and price. It’s quiet, easy to set up, and a great projector all around. If you want a step up in picture quality (including wide color gamut colors), the Epson Home Cinema...

The VPL-HW45ES is the successor to a classic Full HD projector, the VPL-HW40ES. That's a formidable heritage, but Sony has had two years to come up with ways to improve on it. The result: it's really, really good. Your movies will look great, but low...

From the moment you switch it on, you'll discover a talented projector
Crisp, detailed picture ; Natural colour pallet ; Easy to set up
Nothing at this price
From the moment we switched on this Sony we could tell we were on to a winner, and that notion never wavered

Maybe we don't need 4K after all?
Cinematic picture performance ; Top notch detail processing ; Superior motion handling ; Relatively quiet
Too dim for media room use ; Needs professional installation ; Lack of a 12v trigger is irritating
This sensational Sony is a welcome update on a sumptuous 1080p projector design. If you're planning a dedicated cinema room, it's a blockbuster you won't want to miss…

The HW45ES manages to improve on even the efforts of its illustrious predecessor to become the new best sub-£2,000 projector money can buy
Expert review by (avforums.com)
Sony has a new 1080p SXRD entry level projector in the shape of the HW45ES and it is an absolute cracker!
Good black levels for this level of the market ; Excellent colour accuracy ; Good shadow detail and dynamic range ; Excellent video processing ; Good motion ; Excellent input lag for gaming ; Good quality lens and sharpness
Not much wrong at this price and performance level
The best way to conclude this review is by stating the obvious. If you want accurate cinematic images with decent blacks, good shadow detail and stunningly accurate colours for under £2,000 there is no other choice to be made. No, it is not perfect and...

Main reason its bulb life and picture jittering issue. Bulb lasting max 1000 hours and replacement not cheap. Although picture quality good, but product not worth money as you spend lots for bulbs really regret buying. I should've read reviews better...
Consumer review (richersounds.com)
When I bought this two years ago I was delighted with the picture, quietness and general build quality. I had been debating whether to get an LED/laser powered projector around the same price (at the time there were few on offer in that price range,...

Great advice and a great end product a cinema room to be proud of!

Great contrast, even in daylight. Great pictures- and it's a 2k projector. Blu-ray, Apple TV, Sky- all look fabulous. So easy to set up. So easy to adjust. Nice and quiet.
