Yamaha RX-V479 review: Yamaha's bargain receiver steps up to multiroom music

 

For its rather modest price, the Yamaha RX-V479 delivers superb sound quality and a long list of must-have features, including the ability to stream music to different rooms.

The Yamaha RX-479 offers plenty of features, great connectivity and produces some of the best sound we've heard for the money. The MusicCast system delivers easy streaming throughout the house and is available on many Yamaha products.

You'll need to purchase more Yamaha products to utilize the proprietary MusicCast streaming audio in additional rooms. The receiver has only five channels and is not compatible with Dolby Atmos.

The Yamaha RX-V479 delivers superb sound quality and a long list of must-have features, making it our favorite receiver in this price range.

easy setup, plays about everything

 

I have it hooked up to my small paradigm 5.1 speakers. it rocks! surround is great and also plays about anything on network. I have it hooked to PC media, net radio and pandora. rock on!

Does what it supposed to, decent price

Sometimes I have to switch off or switch input cause sound cuts off when switching cable box from tv to dvr or changing tv inputs, could be my old comcast box. Cant program any other component to the remote, now in search of new remote to replace four.

Hard to go wrong

 

I replaced a HTR 5960 which had finally given up the ghost following a severe lightning storm - yes it had surge protection, but they can only do so much.
