Yamaha RX-V577 Networking AV Receiver Review

Review: The Yamaha RX-V577 is an HDMI 1.4, 80 watt/ch receiver, designed for digital entertainment with built-in WiFi and Ethernet; native AirPlay, Pandora, Spotify; and extensive networking features.

Great audio performance for the price ; Fast HDMI switching ; Good mobile app ; Support for major streaming services (Pandora, Spotify) ; Solid network performance ; Customizable input naming ; Decent room correction

No video upscaling of any input ; Lackluster and inconsistent user interface ; Video pass-through of UHD/4K content limited to 30fps ; Room correction measurement limited to only a single seat ; YPAO can potentially give false errors

Review: Yamaha RX-V577 AV Receiver - Hi Res Audio Central

Yamaha released its 2014 RX-V77 Series receiver lineup back in March. The RX-V577, which sits in the middle of this series, is the least expensive of the 7.2-channel models. The entry-level AV receiver business is fiercely competitive, with companies...

Yamaha RX-V577 AV receiver review

The £500 AVR market is more competitive than the final stages of The Great British Bake-Off. These days, it's no good simply offering multichannel decoding and amplification with the odd DSP mode and a raft of HDMI sockets. No: you have to spread the...

Powerful, clean audio performance; flexible wireless audio streaming; good smartphone app control; tons of connections

Primitive onscreen graphics; Bluetooth not integrated; not the warmest of sounds

Yamaha RX-V577 AV Receiver Review

Yamaha add built-in WiFi to their new RX-V577 7.1-channel AV receiver.

Great sound quality ; Built-in WiFi ; Attractive design ; Plenty of features ; Great remote app

More HDMI inputs would be good ; User interface very basic ; No backlight on the remote

Yamaha's RX-V577 7.2-channel AV receiver is a great entry-level receiver that offers a winning combination of features and performance. The design is minimalist but attractive and the front facia won't confuse anyone who is new to multi-channel home...

Yamaha RX-V577 AV receiver review

A highly competent AV receiver at its price, loaded with smarts, including built-in Wi-Fi, AirPlay, DLNA and Spotify.

nice little reciver

For the price you wont go wrong. I didnt notice any extreme overheating. But to prevent this this I always place two large computer tower case fans over any receiver I purchase.

For the price. This receiver does what its advertised to do.I suits all my need for a bedroom system. It produces a whole room of sound. It has a home networking wifi antena. the set up is easy. I bought new 4 speakers and wire to go along with unit....

Love this Receiver

Very happy that I decided on Yamaha.

I love the ability of this receiver to integrate with my cable remote to turn off/on, volume, etc with the TV. Also I can use my Samsung Tab 4 tablet as a master control with the Android app for input (Pandora, TV, DVD, Netflix, Google Play, etc),...

Can't think of any yet.

"The Kind"

I am completely satisfied with this purchase. This device set up quickly and sounds great. The quality of sound is awesome and the number of features are probably more than the average user will ever need.

So far there are no cons. This device meets my expectations completely. Time will tell.

YAMAHA RX-V577

Despite all the cons, this receiver fills my current needs and then some; it just is not as heavily future-proofed as well as some other receivers in the same price range. I use this receiver primarily to playback PCM audio from my computer, so audio...

The best parts I've found with this receiver are the six HDMI inputs, 4K and 3D* 1080p pass-through, YPAO sound field optimizer, and the two subwoofer pre-outs. Optimizing the sound with YPAO made a pretty noticeable difference, appropriating the sound...

-The HDMI ports on this unit are HDMI1.4, not HDMI 2.0,, so 4K and 3D playback are mutually exclusive. The 4K functionality also only supports up to 30Hz. No additional video processing (no upscaling to 4K) -no pre-outs for other channels, so adding...
