No matter your age, the Amazon Kindle Kids Edition is a terrific value for anyone looking to buy an ebook reader.
Excellent value. Parental dashboard lets you monitor your child's reading and control their Amazon product use.
Not waterproof. FreeTime Unlimited pushes picture books that don't look great on the 6-inch screen.
Bottom Line: No matter your age, the Amazon Kindle Kids Edition is a terrific value for anyone looking to buy an ebook reader.

It’s been hard to find fault with the Amazon Kindle e-reader for years now. Though there’s an annual refinement to the backlight, battery and the odd change to the casing, it’s been a great digital reading experience for the best part...
That same great Kindle e-reading screen Kids protected from adult content A year’s worth of free books
Not great for colored picture books Locked into Amazon’s ecosystem
That same great Kindle experience, but with parents given complete control, the Kindle Kids Edition is a smart and overdue addition to Amazon’s family line-up.

An excellent device for reading, the Kid's Edition removes the hassle of content approval, delivering age-appropriate content for your youngsters.
Based around standard Kindle ; Bundle can save you money ; Front illumination makes for easy read ; Long battery life (weeks not hours) ; Access to kids age-appropriate content
No real difference to a standard Kindle ; You can setup any Kindle in the same format (just buy a case and subscription) ; Fun case designs are US-only
Think of this as the latest Amazon Kindle – including the front lighting for easy reading at all times – with a year's subscription to Fire for Kids Unlimited/FreeTime Unlimited and a fancy case in the box. It's a great reading experience that allows...

Can Amazon's world-conquering e-reader convert a new generation?
Sturdy build ; Nice cover ; Good screen ; Two-year replacement scheme ; Safe environment
Lack of colour options ; Slightly sluggish performance ; A few gaps in the library
The Kindle for Kids isn’t perfect but it’s easily the best e-reader you can buy for children
