Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is not a bad tablet, but it's also almost identical, and in some ways inferior, to last year's Galaxy Tab 10.1.

More Info Samsung announces Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 hands-on (video) PSA: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Galaxy Player 4.2

Thin and light design ; Healthy battery life ; IR blaster and universal remote app

Terrible camera, even for a tablet ; Display is sometimes unresponsive ; Performance trails similarly priced tablets

The second-gen 10.1 is a good enough Android 4.0 tablet with a pleasing, lightweight design and decent battery life. Still, its performance and feature set trail tablets that cost the same or even less.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 preview: First look

The 10-inch form factor is the corridors of power in tablet terms, but the ones that won't turn your wallet inside out are hard to come by. In the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Samsung seem to have a reasonably-spec'd Android tablet, which might be the answer to...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 preview: First look

Samsung are really taking tablets seriously these days. They already have three offerings this year. The other two are more compact, but it's the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that will lead the team ahead in enemy territory. The trio surely has one hard task ahead...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

The ; is a well-designed tablet with powerful speakers, a responsive screen, and comes with Android 4.0 installed.

At $400, the tablet is overpriced compared with more-powerful competing tablets that offer better features for around the same price. The tablet's dual-core CPU has trouble running large 1080p movies smoothly, and its screen color accuracy isn't as...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review

Samsung is changing its approach to tablets. Rather than compete at the highest end with the iPad or the Transformer Prime, Samsung's aiming for a happy medium: all the features we've come to...

Nice-looking design ; Runs Android 4.0 ; Affordable at $399.99 ; Neat universal remote functionality

Glitchy performance ; Android tablet app ecosystem is weak ; Poor camera

A $100 price advantage only buys you so much leeway

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) review

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was one of the premier Android tablets when it launched in 2011, with specs that, at the very least, matched top tier Android tablets at the time.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is the same flagship tablet Samsung released a year ago, but this time around it has the latest version of Android and a lower price tag. With mediocre performance and aging components, there are better alternatives.

More affordable than its predecessor. Ships with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Adds a microSD slot. Sharp, bright screen.

Aging components. Mediocre battery life. Performance not up to competition.

Conclusions Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) costs too much for the mediocre performance it delivers. The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) is a good deal at $250, offering a host of useful features for its budget price. But with the Asus Transformer Pad...

Review Samsung 10.1" Galaxy Tab 2 Tablet/MID

Little progress. The Galaxy Tab 2 series represents Samsung's rev

long battery life; fast 3G module; modest weight; decent display

poor sound; mean performance

The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 must compete with all current 10-inch tablets. These include but are not limited to the Apple iPad 3, Asus Transformer Tab TF300T, and Acer Iconia Tab A200. However, due to its comparatively slow CPU, it also competes against...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 delivers good performance packaged in a nice design for a reasonable price ($399.99). At that price point, the Asus Transformer Pad TF300 (32GB) offers a lower build-quality packaged in a heavier body (1.28 pounds vs. 1.39...
