Sony Xperia Z4 tablet review: a great device saddled with a terrible dock

Sony's Xperia Z4 Tablet is a fantastic Android device lumbered with a pointless keyboard dock. If you can pick one up alone, it might be the perfect tablet for you, but it's too expensive to recommend with the dock included.

Incredibly thin and light ; Near-flawless performance ; Water- and dust-resistant ; PS4 Remote Play

Very reflective display ; Poor main camera ; Keyboard dock is a useless addition

If Sony sells the Z4 without a bundled keyboard dock in the US -- the company has not responded to my request for comment on the matter-- then it'd be easy to recommend this to anyone looking for an Android tablet. Yes, it has shortcomings -- namely...

The Sony Xperia Z4 is the best tablet you've never heard of (review)

In addition to being one of the thinnest and lightest tablets around, the Sony Xperia Z4 is a 10-inch Android model with a beautiful 2K display and fast performance.

The Sony Xperia Z4's slim, waterproof design is simultaneously sleek and solid. Running the latest version of Android, it features a colorful user-friendly overlay. It has a sharp HD screen, and its performance is fast and smooth.

The optional Bluetooth keyboard is cramped to type on and has a frail plastic build.

For novice Android users with a desire to greatly personalize their experience, the Sony Xperia Z4 is a beautifully constructed tablet with high-end specs that won't disappoint.

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet

One of the best reasons to pick an Android gadget (and skip on comparable iOS or Windows devices) is the freedom to tweak it to your heart's desire. Rocking a colorful overlay full of useful customization features, the Z4 takes full advantage of this...

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet review: the new netbook?

Netbooks didn't have a lot going for them, but they had a clear purpose. Their cramped keyboards, dull displays, and feeble processors couldn't detract from their eminent usefulness as fast note...

Thinner, faster, lighter, yet still waterproof ; The USB port is open, but the tablet's still waterproof ; You can use it in the shower, because it's waterproof

Keyboard dock could have been a differentiator, instead it's a disaster ; Upgrades from last year's model aren't significant ; Cheaper alternatives like the Nexus 9 do almost everything just as well

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Review

Facelift with small flaws. The successor of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, the thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet, has the designation...Z4 Tablet - logical. Just as logical are the updated internals, the slightly reworked chassis and the improved...

Very light and very thin, Rubberized back, Waterproof and dust-resistant, Very fast components, Bright and high-contrast display, High resolution, Usable cameras, Decent speakers, Fast Wi-Fi and LTE, Telephone function

Insufficient stability, Thermal issues with throttling, Power adaptor insufficient, Extremely long charging time, Mediocre GPS performance

Thin, light, waterproof, powerful and top features – this is familiar for Sony tablets nowadays. All these characteristics also apply for the Xperia Z4 Tablet. This could already be the end of the verdict, if there weren’t some issues. But let’s start...

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet - Sony's answer to the Surface 3?

We loved Sony's waterproof Z2 Tablet and Z3 Tablet Compact, and now Sony has launched the new Z4 tablet. With an upgraded QHD display and octa-core processor, as well as a new Bluetooth keyboard dock that turns it into a 10-inch laptop, the Z4 looks...

Powerful Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor ; Ultra-thin and lightweight design; IP68 certified ; QHD 2,560 x 1,600-pixel display ; Stereo speakers

Poor battery life ; Expensive ; Not much different from last year's model

The Xperia Z4 Tablet has a new display and a new processor, but it doesn't really feel like a new product. The Z4 delivers exactly what the Z2 Tablet did last year: great build, waterproof durability, minimalist design, and a top notch display and...

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet review: Sony has won us over

Sony's tablet heritage is well-known in the Android community. The Japanese company knocked it out of the park with the Xperia Z2 Tablet, and has made some enormous strides since then. And although the company's lineup hasn't achieved anywhere near the...
