AmaZING sound for $399

I bought this item for Audio playback. At first i was not pleased with the sound so i popped in a burn-in disc and set the machine on repeat for a couple of days. Later when I put in one of my favorite SACD's...WOW...wonder of wonders the sound floored...

Marantz DV7001

The DV7001 is a medium-priced high-spec straight DVD player - but note the word 'straight', which in this case applies specifically to the video subsection. Marantz has yet to commit irrevocably to either Blu-ray or HD DVD

An accomplished all-rounder, Improved audio quality

Film soundtracks can sound lightweight

Marantz DV7001 review

Unlike the lively, 'which is better: CD or vinyl?' debate of the 1980s, there can be no such discussion about DVD and HD. Hi-def is four times sharper, end of discussion. So how can it make sense to spend more money on an inferior format?

Squeeze more out of your DVDs with Marantz's hulk of a player. It'll bootcamp those discs to 1080p. Hup!

The price is steep but if you want to go HD, shelling out for new-format discs of your movie collection could be steeper

The Marantz DV7001 is a well-built, upscaling DVD player which will appeal to music and movie lovers alike.

Superior construction ; Excellent sound and vision ; Faroudja upscaling to 1080p

You may well wonder why anyone would pay £600 for a DVD player when you can pick up a high definition HD DVD player for considerably less money. The answer is that the Marantz DV7001 is optimised for DVD playback and will deliver a superior picture
